bmags
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) I've never been Trayce's biggest fan but we're to the point where he has to be in consideration for a starting outfield spot next year, right? For me, I think if we get an actual above average player in a corner OF spot you do it, you don't hold anything warm for a less than sure thing. But, if next year is just a year to let everything develop, I think we give it to Trayce who has earned it.

OmarComing25
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) So you're telling me that you don't see any drop off at all in him from AAA to MLB? I didn't say that, I'm just trying to counter your assertion that he has "no reasonable shot at all" to be an above-average MLB hitter. lasttriptotulsa
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) I didn't say that, I'm just trying to counter your assertion that he has "no reasonable shot at all" to be an above-average MLB hitter. But any regression from his AAA stats at all puts him at average or below. If he's roughly a 110 wRC+ hitter in AAA, chances he is not going to be there in the Majors. I'm just not going to base my opinion of him on his 100 or so PAs he's had in the Majors where's he played out of his mind. I think some on here are just ignoring the fact that the current .257 ISO and .338 BABPI (basically the equivalent of a prime Frank Thomas) are just not realistic numbers for him and once his numbers regress to the norm the opinion around here will change real fast. Hatchetman
he's always kept his head above water in the minors as he's moved up the ladder. wouldn't be surprised if he could do the same in the majors. if he can hit .250 45BB 15HR and play great D, HES ON THE TEAM FOR NEXT YEAR! SCCWS
I think the Sox need to try and add an OF in the off-season. If they can add a solid bat w average defense, then you can play Avi/Melky/ Thompson and Eaton in the best allignment around that player. Melky or Avi should move to Dh and LaRoche to another team. He pretty much as to, for no other reason than his defense. If Avi isn't going to hit, he is worthless out there. Thompson can at least catch the ball at a plus rate. bmags
TT also hits the ball very hard. His BABIP may not be this high forever, but he has to have the highest exit velocity off his bat of anyone beside maybe Abreu.

OmarComing25
Also, it should be noted that Thompson's BABIP in September is just .250, which is actually on the unlucky side considering he's still driving the ball, yet his OPS is still >.700 and he has 0.3 WAR. He does that over a full season and he's a 2 WAR player.

LDF
this got me thinking or rethinking on bats and the weight of the bats. can that add to this power. it still comes back to the Babe.... having the heaviest known bat from 1910 and on. that is recorded for this time The Babe 54 oz. some guy in the 1910 48 oz. Lou Greig 40-42 oz does anyone remember old clips of the Babe swing that bat like a twig??? geez
