BigEdWalsh
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) I am so very sad to see this. Mark is one of my all time favorite players. One of my favorites too and he has remained that since he left the Sox which is probably true for all of us. I was at the game when he made his major league debut. I was impressed right off the bat. He'll be missed. I was hoping to watch him in the playoffs. The Blue Jays have been a fun team to watch this year. I hope if he wants a job in baseball the Sox offer him one, minor league instructor...anything.
BlackSox13
I wonder if Buehrle would consider coming back to the Sox as a reliever for one season? Likely wishful thinking on my part since Buehrle has had a few cortisone shots in his shoulder this year but I still cling to some hope. Lip Man 1
Great player, class guy. Had a tremendous career. Wish him all the best in retirement. Mark
ChiSoxFanMike
His number has to be retired at some point, right? He's one of the best pitchers to ever put a Sox uniform on.
greg775
QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:10 PM) it would great and fitting, if he can be at spring training and pitch the opening day.... for 1 pitch and then leave and retire. i really thought he would sign as a free agent.... I doubt the Sox would mess with something like that on Opening Day next season. Sox are going to have enough to worry about in trying to start winning games. Also Mark's body isn't exactly perfectly sculped. If he does retire and takes the winter off, I'd suspect it might be a mockery to put him in uniform and on the mound. I'd suspect he'll be out of shape big time after the winter.

He's one of the best pitchers to ever put a Sox uniform on. Of course. I'm sure they'll do something ceremonial to have him retire a White Sox. It's goofy, but some guys like to do that for closure. flavum
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) Mark doesn't seem like the type of guy that would want to do that though. I agree. On his own, he wouldn't ask for that. The Sox, on the other hand, are all about doing token gestures. They have to initiate him into the cult. flavum
Stupid Goins with the error. This is borderline not a cool move by the Blue Jays trying for homefield. I was hoping for it be a quick, painless two innings.

He also didn't seem like the type of guy who would pitch two innings on one days rest for an arbitrary record, but here he goes.

I've heard a couple people say his teammates and Gibbons wanted it for him.
flavum
Umpire isn't helping him out either. Walks in a run. f***ing Goins messed up bad on routine grounder to start the inning if you missed it.
