ron883
With Eaton having surgery on his throwing shoulder? Do you see him switching to the corner? I think trayce won the cf job for next year. The sox simply need to improve their defense. I can't see this not happening
3GamesToLove
They need to make some kind of decision on Garcia, obviously.
Jose Abreu
Yes, he has. I think his hitting is a fluke, but his defense is worthy of him being the 2016 center fielder

GGajewski18
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) Yes, he has. I think his hitting is a fluke, but his defense is worthy of him being the 2016 center fielder I agree, but if he can play an elite CF with hitting 250-260 with 15+ HRs, I'll take it. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) Shuck mightve replaced him as 4th OF I think so too. I think Avi is trade bait.
OmarComing25
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) Yes, he has. I think his hitting is a fluke, but his defense is worthy of him being the 2016 center fielder He hit .230/.302/.402 the last month of the season, and he only had a .270 BABIP. With his defense he was still worth 0.4 WAR for the month though. He does that over a full season that's a 2.5 WAR player. Even if his offense falls off a bit from his September numbers his defense is good enough that he has a shot to be a 2 WAR player. We could use a lot more of those. I don't think that slash line is that far out of reach for him, especially seeing how he drives the ball. EDIT: 0.4 WAR, not 0.5. Batting Average is overrated anyway, if he gets a bunch of extra-base hits and manages a decent walk rate I don't care if he hits .230. All I'm saying back is...please for God's sake let's not pencil in Trayce and then say "now we're a competitive roster because he's guaranteed to repeat what he did this year after his callup". Play him and see what happens? Sure. Invest a huge amount in 3b and then act totally surprised that Trayce hits sub-.200 next year? Totally a White Sox move. Lip Man 1
I am guessing you are going to see the same guys starting in the outfield next year with Thompson and / or Schuck as the reserve guy. That's the way the Sox roll. Mark

I never said I was penciling him in for anything. I don't see many other people doing it either, they just think Trayce has earned a shot to see if he can stick over Garcia, and I agree. Maybe he'll suck, but let's find out, there's not many better options on the table right now.

Will take this vs signing an average offensive upgrade with passable Defense only to see them post a career worst year. Surrounding a strong pitching staff with strong defense seems like a much better plan than trying to plug up this offense.
southsider2k5
Won? No. He has put himself on the map to compete for a job in 16.
Bob Sacamano
Assuming Garcia and LaRoche are back next year, Trayce will be the righty part of a platoon with LaRoche with Avi/Garcia getting some DH at bats (at least, starting off that way. If he hits and takes a job away, that role could be Avi's at some point).

Sox will do some major hero-worshiping in the offseason in a ridiculous attempt to counteract fan disinterest. Career years, veterans who made all star teams 2 years ago...come on down. it sold tickets last year, so double down this year. Todd Frazier and maybe even....Longoria. Elite! BlackSox13
Trayce has won the opportunity to compete in ST but that's as far as it goes for now. We'll see what happens in March. I am pulling for him though.

LDF
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 11:39 PM) Trayce was great, but he hasn't won s***. well i wasn't going to go there, but i am glad many posters are looking with both eyes open. TT will compete for the 4th OF'er. for those who think i am wrong, how many times does a player / prospects comes up and performed better than their minor league stats. defensively he may be elite but the sox also needs someone to hit. i wish i was wrong. he is a 200 - 230 avg hitter with nice power and great "D"

Balta1701
QUOTE (spiderman @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) He has to win a job, but he's the favorite to coming in. How did Eaton rank defensively this season? Very poor. However he was quite good in 2014. Basically, as of now I can't tell which year to believe he will be overall. It's entirely possible he could be a stronger defender in 2016 than he was in 2015, we've seen that before. We basically need to give him more time out there to see if he can be a solid defender.
