Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Astros had a chance to blow this one open in the first and only got 2. More than the Sox would have gotten in that situation. Would have unsurprisingly put up a goose egg.

cabiness42
Only caught a little of the game, but for those who watched any of it, did anyone else enjoy AJ broadcasting or was it just me? I noticed that he was really quiet when the other announcers were pointing out that the Astros young players were very good at being patient and taking pitches. Dick Allen
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 09:36 AM) I noticed that he was really quiet when the other announcers were pointing out that the Astros young players were very good at being patient and taking pitches. He was pretty open about his ability not to walk. Carter walked 3 times in the WC game and someone pointed out to AJ he was the first player to walk 3 times in his playoff debut since Frank Thomas. AJ said 3 walks in a game is impressive. He's never done it, and it would take him a couple of months to walk 3 times.

caulfield12
Huge recovery there from Fields to keep the game tied. Alex Gordon just lost $5-10 million on his next contract. Joking. But surely Cueto has by now with how he's pitched with the Royals. Without Holland, Madson becomes the weak point of the KC pen in the 8th. Fwiw, Keuchel is 15-0 at home with a miniscule ERA for Game 3. Of course, 33-48 and the worst road record in the AL leads to beating NY and KC on the road to begin the playoffs. Volquez for KC. Pretty sure with only 2 ip that Ventura will go again in a must-win Game 4 on the road. Edited October 9, 2015 by caulfield12

caulfield12
Royals have the best combined record in the AL since the beginning of 2013. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/04/magazine...pable.html?_r=0 In other news, Maddon and Yost aren't that different after all. greg775
How could anybody pay Gordon more than 8-10 million a year is beyond me. What a bad signing he'll be for 18-25 million a year. His offensive value is solely by the geek stat OBP. His traditional stats of RBIs, BA and HRs are OK, by no means great. He's a great defensive player. But what is a GM thinking if he pays him 20 million a year for 5-8 years? He's 31 year old Alex Gordon for gawdsakes not some almighty stud. I guess he'd be a good acquisition for the Sox just to get some defense out there. But he's no ultra elite player.
