Sox coverage was not even half this the Cubs are getting.

Times have changed. Media is different now. If the Sox were advancing to the ALCS, I guarantee you Chicago news stations would interrupt their programs to cover it.

Good post. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was huge. The problem was, it was really pre social network and it was immediately after the 2004 Red Sox team. But every station was covering it.

I'm really glad I don't live in Chicago right now. Nobody talked s*** to me or anything, even the one guy who's a Cubs fan on my softball team.

I had a horrible night at work. The Cubs fans were INSUFFERABLE. And I am not a Cubs hater, at all. I never talked bad about them, I never rooted for the Cardinals, I never pumped my fists when the Cardinals scored, never even said that I thought the Cardinals would win, yet nearly every Cubs fan at work came up to me "Woooo!!! CUBBIES BABY!!!!", jumping on my back (literally even). One supervisor of mine giving me the "What's wrong? Where is your team? Oh at home, because they suck" type of stuff. I just nod my head "Yeah, ok, great. It doesn't really matter", and they just get even more in to it. I was so so irritated.

Folks, this actually might be a blessing (for the long term). Hear me out. The Cubs we all know aren't quite ready to win it all. They will get KILLED by the Dodgers. Anyhow, if somehow the Cubs make the WS they will lose to the Astros. OK, people will be BITTERLY disappointed. They'll be talking curses again and jinxes and the point is they'll be bummed out. They shouldn't be, as they are winning AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.

My point is, this year's flameout when it comes could turn the Cubs into a Detroit Tigers or Minnesota Vikings. Maybe all these Cubs teams that are gonna be making the playoffs under Theo/Maddon will fail each October. This year should be considered gravy right now, but I sense Cub fans are smelling WS title!! It's too early for them for that. Could set them up to be a Vikings/Tigers, close but always losing in postseason.

LOL.

No Astros in the World Series. Won't even make it past Wednesday. They're not quite ready for prime time because of their bullpen. No houses wagered, though.

Just because of 1969, I'll pick the Mets over the Cubs for the NLCS.

(Actually, I don't have a strong feeling about what will happen in that series...anything's possible, as the Dodgers have to be back as the slight favorite, playing at home and with Greinke on the mound.)

I think the worst part of the Cubs recent run is that they're playing that "Go Cubs Go" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

As you can tell, I hate that song and I wouldn't mind if I never heard it again for the rest of my life.

Easily the worst part is having to hear that god awful song. If it weren't for that, I'd actually be happy for my coworkers and family who are cubs fans.

According to the Tribune, the Cubs are now the favorites to win the WS.

I bet it has a lot to do with them being the only team that has advanced to the next round. If the remaining teams were all exactly even, the Cubs would be twice as likely to win.

Also probably looking at regular season record of all the teams remaining. However, I doubt the Cubs would be the favorite in Vegas in a series against the Blue Jays.

The lines are based on how much action each side is placing, not the true odds of winning. Cubs fans are betting like mad, which is pushing their odds down. It literally has nothing to do with who is actually the best team.

My friend moved to Chicago a year ago and is acting like she's waited a lifetime. Her boyfriend moved THREE WEEKS AGO and is acting like it.

They've both told me this feels more like 03 than 07 or 08.

What the f***.

God, they're like Blackhawk fans.

Too many bandwagon Blackhawk fans these day's. I used to watch them when they were garbage. I'm sure those people had no interest back then.

I tried getting into hockey the year before they won it all. Really liked Havlat.

Oh well.

I'll pull for them but won't claim to be a fan/die hard, but you're right. I could probably name more players than most bandwagoners.
