One person dead in Chicago. 6 others wounded. Can we make a new thread each morning for those people too? Or do they matter less?

If it was a school/university-related shooting, sure...why not?

Or if the Chicago shooting was a copycat.

But why did you feel it necessary to post this story in a new thread? It's a shooter on a campus with one dead and three wounded. No other details provided, but it sure sounds like a premeditated murder crime, which happens all over this country on a daily basis. There are awful people in this world who do awful things. Everyone knows that.

Always a chance this had zero to do with the school. :"The incident took place in a parking lot adjacent to our Mountain View resident's hall on the northeast side of campus." Looking at a map of the campus, that residence hall is at the very eastern edge of the campus and has no other campus building around it at all. Could be a drug deal gone bad. Could have been something that started elsewhere and ended up there, could have not been students at all. Not much details yet about anything.

Then you should ask Illinois' governor, senators or reps why they're not expressing condolences to the victims in Chicago like McCain already in AZ.

What's that have to do with you starting a new thread over a seemingly "regular" murder crime in hopes of tying it into the media frenzy/hysteria over "mass shootings."

Unsurprisingly, there was another school shooting at Northern Arizona University, but it was of the more traditional "personal dispute between 2 or more individuals" variety.

I now officially have to suck it up and apply for a job at a place that has already had a school shooting. Sigh.

Ho hum. Just chalk it up to another day in USA. Bam, you're dead. Just remember to always watch your back. You may be shot on purpose or accidentally. Read about those Chicago shootings. Some people just walking along and felt a pain. Hey don't they know they shouldn't be taking walks in America nowadays?

lol go away with your "facts" and "numbers"

The city got better economically, and murders went down. No surprise. The recent years with small spikes like 2012 and 2008 were unusually warm years - also no surprise.

Also possibly driven by decreasing lead exposure. There's some decent research it there around that correlation.
