Just heard the first excuse. It was cold outside.

Was hoping Soler would break this out.

#Cubs Soler isn't a big fan of cold weather. Says Maddon: "We'll keep him warm until we need him"

Well, if you're a Cubs' fan, pondering a potential sweep is still a lot better (see 2007/08) than the total heartbreak and shock of 2003, 1998, 1984 and 1969.

If you get swept or only win one game or two even in a seven game series, it's a lot easier to deal with psychologically. It's those situations like 2003, the Michigan/MSU game or the marching band on the field that you never forget.

De Grom ain't s***. Cubs winning this and we rolling. Mets are f***ed, don't f*** with a genius like Joe Maddon. Retards.

Oh no! The Mets should be trembling with fear! Joe Maddon is going to use his magical powers to defeat them!

That has to be a troll account, right? Also, the big storyline in this series is the Mets' arms vs. the Cubs' bats, and while the Cubs' offense had a great 2nd half, the Mets' offense was actually better over that time period.

The Cubs? I really don't see it. Their bats were really dead in New York. I guess they could come back and win but that's not a championship caliber team. The only way it is one is if their young sluggers start blasting balls out of the park at a rapid pace.

After watching some playoff games, I see the Cubs as the weakest team of the four by far. I know we don't value managers on here, but I really believe Madden is the only reason they won 97 games. That's a ton of games. If we had Madden ... wowsie!! He'd have figured a way to win 92 games with our pitching staff!

Do you really think that Maddon would have made the Sox 16 games better this past season?

I sort of do because I don't see anything special on the Cubs roster right now compared to ours (considering the Flubs stars are so young; now potentially it's a different story). I think Robin epically failed and Madden somehow got a similar team to win 97 games.

Literally every single player in the Cubs starting lineup is far better or on par with the Sox (Rizzo/Abreu being the only toss up).

The cubs have an absurdly young & cheap core + money to spend on a Greinke/Price this off season. They're going to be contenders for the next 5 years easily.

The Sox have black holes at 7 positions with almost no help waiting in the minors and no money to spend. Terrible ownership, terrible coaching, terrible scouting and wasting the greatest rotation in a generation.

I am incredibly jealous.

Except for the greatest rotation in a generation part (not with Shark/Danks/Noesi/Erik Johnson as part of it). You have to be deeper than just 3 starters to have the best in a generation, and Rodon needs to improve and repeat from last year.

At any rate, you have the Braves of the 90's (Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz/Avery), the future Mets' rotation (deGrom/Harvey/Snydegaard/Matz/Colon/Wheeler)...heck, the Nationals were supposed to have the best rotation in baseball this season and that didn't exactly turn out, either (Scherzer/Strasburg/Zimmermann/Gio Gonzalez/Fister/Tanner Roark.)

I'm sure older fans remember all the hype about Paul Wilson, Bill Pulsipher and Jason Isringhausen with the Mets 15 years ago. Only one of those guys even emerged to have a decent big league career, and it wasn't with NY.

I'd give us an advantage with Eaton over Fowler, but that hardly changes the truthfulness of your post.

What's incredibly sad is we have a great rotation that can actually get even better come '17 depending on the progression of Fulmer and Montas. If we even had a middle of the pack offense, we'd probably be competing for a Wild Card. Which is why our position is infuriating, we're not even anticipating several young stars like the Cubs -- just f***ing replacement level production.

1. Bryant

2. Rizzo

3. Russell

4. Schwarber

5. Soler

6. Ian Happ #9 pick in first round

7. Baez

8. Gleyber Torres

We don't even have ONE player that would come close to cracking that list on the position player side. Tim Anderson would be a distant 8th or maybe even 9th...and I might very well be underrating Torres.

And some Cubs' fans would/could make arguments for Billy McKinney, Almora and Eloy Jimenez.

I don't think Colon is in the Mets future...

Also man, if only you could combine the Mets right handers with the Sox left handers.

Sale-deGrom-Quintana-Harvey-Rodon-Syndergaard.

Rodon would be left off that rotation. Syndergaard is rated higher in my book.

I'd go

Sale

deGrom

Harvey

Quintana

Syndergaard

Agreed, but it's a hypothetical six man of the three lefties and three righties.
