Eminor3rd
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) I would love Upton. I'd rather we be the place that the Yankees trade Gardner to make room for Upton.
Bigsoxhurt35
I'm sure we like him. I'm not a huge fan but I won't be opposed to it. Question is what and how much? 5/120?
chetkincaid
I'd rather have Cespedes or Heyward, as I'm sure most of us would. But if it came down to Upton or Alex Gordon, who would you choose?

Hatchetman
druther have Upton for $100MM than Heyward for $200MM.
chetkincaid
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) Gordon, no doubt Tell me why Gordon is better. I think I'd rather have Upton but I really don't know.

Right... maybe with a slightly better attitude. I don't think he's as talented as any of the free agent outfielders.
Real
why would this team be signing more expensive free agents they aren't going anywhere next year.

Baron
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Right after Kenny does. Mark I just hate the morbid attitude. They should try and fill as many holes as possible. Let's actually reach the playoffs next year.
GGajewski18
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) Isn't Gardner just a more expensive and older version of Eaton? That's what I see him as. Gardner's power definitely played into that ballpark as well imo. Comparing contracts, Pablo Sandoval (same age as Upton when given big contract) got 5/99 from the Red Sox. However, Pablo is coming off 3 WS titles I believe, I don't know if he was part of the first one though. So, imo, I think that would be the starter for Upton. I'd do 5/100 for Upton. Trade for Frazier and Norris. Then you have a formidable offense. I think those 3 additions, a better start to the year, not trading Q to get these 3 players. I think this team could make some huge noise next year.

But that doesn't mean we couldn't use a second Eaton that's a bit older and more expensive.

Spend the money, and get one of the top 3 OFs.

I've stated my mock where we sign 3 guys and trade for Puig. This team doesn't have the talent to stand pat. They just don't. They have to make moves.
