GGajewski18
AA not returning to the Blue Jays is a bit shocking. He turned an extension. Does Shapiro go after KW now?
Dick Allen
Obviously Shapiro was going to be a lot more involved with personnel than Beeston. I don't think this is much of a shock. A free agent GM, at his peak value, with no openings available.
caulfield12
Jordan4Life will surely hire him. First postseason in ages and the Goins missed popup goes against the Jays, Price and AA's fate were sealed that game in many ways. So close, and yet so far and not quite enough (the World Series appearance at least) to save his job. Estrada, Buehrle and Price have to replaced, as well as Bautista and Encarnacion after next year. Josh Donaldson the best move of the last offseason in retrospect. Edited October 29, 2015 by caulfield12
knightni
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 09:48 AM) AA is not returning because management was upset that he was traded so many prospects due to his "win now" mindset. I don't think Kenny Williams would have done any different, nor do I think he is capable of fixing the problem. The RA Dickey trade was on display in the playoffs. D'Arnaud and Syndegaard were making AA look pretty bad.
caulfield12
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/base...rticle26996693/ Article with the "inside scoop." Looks like Gibbons will be shown the door as well. Sad day for baseball in Toronto unless you're a huge Shapiro fan back from 2005 in Cleveland when he beat out KW for AL Exec of the Year. BlackSox13
Just speculating but it sounds like AA has something else lined up. To me, its surprising he turned down a five year extension after positioning Toronto to be legit contenders.
caulfield12
Well, he would be in the same exact position with Shapiro as KW with Hahn. Feels he's earned more respect and freedom than that level of oversight.

Kyyle23
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) Miami? Isn't their GM the owners son in law?

Their prez is but they haven't had a gm since Jennings took the manager job. And Jennings was just officially fired.

Feels he's earned more respect and freedom than that level of oversight. That's probably right. Maybe even worse. There are those who say that Hahn is making baseball decisions. Frankly, I'm disappointed that Shapiro is leaving the Central. Tribe weren't exactly ominous during his stint.

Frankly, I'm disappointed that Shapiro is leaving the Central. Tribe weren't exactly ominous during his stint. I never got the Shapiro fascination either... He's not AL Central anymore, so....BFD. AA interests me though. He's REALLY slick. I'd love to hear any ideas he might have on how to fix our system.
caulfield12
That second generation Indians team from 2003-2007 was pretty darned good. Were very close to a World Series in 2007 before falling to Boston. That 2005 team scared the hell out of us until the final week...
