I can't find the thread now, but you were saying that Perez was a top offensive catcher and people used statistics to show that many catchers hit better than him. Tyler Flowers was a better hitter than Perez in 2014. Perez was a bit better in 2015. Over the past 2 years they've been pretty comparably catcherly with their hitting. Are we moving the goalposts now? And I've said time & time again on this board that there is no good way to quantity the true value of a catcher. Pitch framing is just one of many reasons why. Not sure where you get this idea I don't the importance of pitch framing. However, I would argue you're likely undervaluing the impact pitchers themselves have on pitch framing and therefore are overvaluing Flowers. The way around a grievance could be that you will make him catch without giving him the option of retiring to make it less threatening.
