Torii Hunter retired today. Half of Twitter praising the ballplayer, the other half criticizing the bigot.

The guy was an ass hole. I'll never forget how he blatantly ran over Josh Paul in 2004.

Wasn't that Jamie Burke?

Worst part about it was he just took it and didn't retaliate in any way.

Yup it was Burke. I get my crappy backup catchers mixed up sometimes.

Kind of tough for Burke to retaliate from that considering he was a sitting duck waiting for the throw. He ended up in the hospital for observations and had a mild concussion (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1847744). The problem wasn't whether or not Burke should have retaliated from the fetal position, but more that Hunter should have received a fastball in the ear hole in his next at bat.

Yup, he deserved to get plunked. If you deliberatlely try to hurt a defenseless player, not only should you be ejected, but if you're not, you're getting a pitch somewhere that really hurts.

Wow, that's huge. I understand a reluctance to trade prospects, but when your large sports-crazed town has gone 22 years without a MLB playoff appearance, I think it's justifiable, even if they fell short the World Series. And it's not like there are any open jobs for AA either.

Being a Toronto sports fan is like being a Cubs fan if the Cubs played every sport.

More like a Cleveland fan than a Cubs fan.
