Bleh.

Wasn't this guy the Cubs manager a year or two ago?

He's better than Mark Parent by default, but it don't see how he's a huge improvement.

It's just nice to have a guy with experience if/when our manager gets canned

What exactly are you expecting for a bench coach hire? Not sure how the Sox could do much better, especially considering Robin's lame duck status.

I'm on board. Now we need to be aggressive this offseason again.

Hopefully aggressive in building the organization and bringing in young talent. Like we were in 2013.

Hopefully not aggressive in bringing in"proven veterans" which failed miserably last year.

Renteria did a good job with the Cubs.

I'm fairly certain they dont want to repeat the strategy in 2013 again.

olt, turner, renteria.

Quite a trail of Cubs' cast offs.

Who's next -- Corey Patterson?

Maybe the pyrotechnicians can figure out how to shoot exploding W's out of the scoreboard when the Sox win.

He was doing a good job with the Cubs. It's just that Maddon was made available.

here is my question, i do not know nothing of Renteria. but is he really a good coach???

does anyone think he is a mentor for RV while on the bench to teach him the finer points of the game??

can he be the next manager after RV??

Maybe someone can find a counterexample, but if a manager gets fired, it's pretty rare for a member of his coaching staff to get the promotion. If the manager resigns/retires, maybe, but not fired.

i know we are talking about for this discussion.

but if a manager gets fires during a season, doesn't it usually go to a coach for the interim base.
