Can someone help me with this, I asked my dad and he doesn't really know either.

What is ISIS? What does it stand for? Is this a religious thing? Just extremists? What is their purpose of doing all of this all around the world?

This is just so sad, that I am just uneducated on.

Wonder why Paris.

France has always seemed the most vulnerable of the Western European countries, there seems to be a base of terrorists networks established there already, just waiting for the time to strike.

Reading some accounts of the concert hall are pretty awful, it sounds like the cops had to bust in and risk civilian casualties to prevent numerous more casualties.

Putin said he's ready to work with us to go after ISIS.

Since the Jordanian pilot's execution, I've felt that literally the only good thing stemming from the existence of ISIS is that they'll be universally despised to the point that countries who aren't particularly friendly with each other put aside their differences in order to extinguish a mutual enemy.

It's a good breeding ground for ISIS to convert the already existing Muslims in France. If I remember correctly, France has the highest Muslim population in western Europe, something like 10% of its population.

And there is a ton of racial tension between the french and the muslims who have immigrated there.

This is true. They passed a law banning the hijab. I don't remember when this happened but it's a big deal for muslims.

All in all this is probably a really dumb move by ISIS. If the world decides to crush them now, they can blame noone but themselves.

Well France, time to put up or shut up. Time for the world to eradicate this relatively small force. Yes, it's not going to solve the problem, and a new group will form again in the future, but at least you disrupt the ability to plan and coordinate these attacks from happening more frequently. To me that's the best way to fight these guys. If it takes military engagement every 5-6 years, so be it. Obama should tell the world we'd be willing to help, but you all (muslim countries, europe) are putting the majority of the boots on the ground and paying for it.

Religion.

That is all.

Cmon. This has nothing to do with religion. It has everything to do with power, land, freedom, oppression, protection, greed- any of those things. People who blame religion for anything are very misinformed about religion.

What's the most common canned opinion about religion that you hear? "Look at all the wars and lives lost because of religions." Most popular statement you ever hear, and it's totally retarded. People sure think they're smart saying it though. Men & women often choose to do horrible horrible things.

With Islam there is no separation between religion and politics, they are so intertwined as to be the same. So you are both right.

One of the suicide bombers had a ticket to the France Germany soccer game, tried to enter, but security found his explosive vest, was turned away and blew himself up.

"I'm sorry, you're going to have to take that off before we can let you in".

It's encouraging that this was stopped at the gates; I'm sure everyone has run into gate security who seem more interested in picking their ass or preventing you from bringing food/drink in than anything else. I can't imagine how much worse it could have been inside the stadium, where in addition to more casualties, it likely would have been televised as well.

This. France has a big stench of racism. I'm pretty sure they outlawed the hijab? Maybe someone can check me on that but the muslims, both conventional and extreme, are going to take big offense to that.

My best friend played soccer all of the world and he said the only places he got bad racism was Paris and Texas. He said in Texas they were racist to intimidate him on the field but in Paris they were just vicious and he'd get it on the field and on the streets. He's a black kid from Chicago and he was called a sand n***** without provocation. Just a testimonial but France gets a lot of muslim immigrants from Western Africa and the French aren't exactly happy about it. It's been an ongoing story on the news over the last decade.

That's so hypocritical of France. A quarter of the French national team is Muslim since a lot of them are of Algerian decent (Zidane, Benzema, Nasri, etc.)

Why does NO ONE say the obvious thing on TV?! It's insane. Don't want terrorism in US? Stop importing Muslims!

I feel really bad for the vast majority of Muslims in America. The moment a terrorist group does something overseas, the right wingers come out and want all of you deported.

We should stop bringing Christians into this country. I mean, with groups like the KKK and LRA out there, who knows what those Christians can do?
