Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) Reading the comments about Samardzija on MLBTR was a funny read. Good stuff there. fWAR is useless. Doesn't make sense.
Bigsoxhurt35
I bet it's bs. But then again it is free agency.
Dunt
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) Agree, I don't care for Frazier much. He had a hot streak, but is sub standard defensively and outside of getting hot, is not much more than an average bat. Ugh, what? He has posted a 2.6 WAR or higher the last 4 seasons, with 2 being higher than 4 WAR. In addition, he rates pretty highly defensively. 6th best defensive score, 6th best UZR, 7th best UZR/150, and 7th best DRS among 3B. Kyyle23
if Samardzija has a 100M offer on the table, i highly doubt it is the Cubs. I dont think they are gonna offer him 4/84 in 2014 and then offer him 16M more after the season he had last year.
BlackSox13
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) fWAR is useless. Doesn't make sense. I don't pay much attention to it myself. I'm mainly laughing because the Samardzija supporters are arguing on his behalf saying the Sox defense was bad, which it was and is true. But the Sox defense had nothing to do with the 29 cruise missiles launched off the bats of opposing hitters, that's on Samardzija. But hey, he tweaked his mechanics and is all good now. I dont think they are gonna offer him 4/84 in 2014 and then offer him 16M more after the season he had last year. Thinking the same thing. Signing Samardzija would chew most of if not all of what the cubs have to spare. Imo, SF is trying to drive up the price on Grienke while looking at a more realistic option like Samardzija. I'm guessing SF made that offer.

lasttriptotulsa
QUOTE (kevo880 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) As badly as we need a third baseman I would hate to see a deal of Quinatana for Frasier, even if there were more pieces involved. Hahn will not give up 5 years of Quintana for 2 years of Frazier.
kevo880
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) Hahn will not give up 5 years of Quintana for 2 years of Frazier. I hope not, but it's hard to come up with better third basemen that are available.

Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) I'm a bit confused here. The first one should have been in green. The comments section had a guy that was talking about fWAR being useless. I thought that was funny. Then I stated that I prefer fWAR when comparing pitchers. My bad. Dick Allen
If he has $100 million on the table, which I seriously doubt, IMO, it's the Dodgers if they don't bring back Greinke.

Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) Once again, this should just make you appreciate the value of the contracts of Sale and Q. How Hahn got those done, I'll never understand. Pretty easy actually. Only one full year in the rotation so not a lot of leverage, could only negotiate with us, took the money for financial security, didn't buy out many free agent years (only 2 for Sale). Just wait for his next contract haha
Whisox05
Cubs remain interested in a reunion with Jeff Samardzija. But buzz in the industry is that his price is rising beyond their comfort level https://twitter.com/jaysonst/status/672815666936881152

fathom
Sounds like Cubs might be going the hardest after Lackey. I don't think that would be a great fit for them.
