Let's keep this in mind to...do you really think Robin is going to put either of them in position to fully maximize their value? That's the main problem I have with a platoon. bmags Posted November 25, 2015 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I feel like the cost to acquire a .750+ OPS catcher is so high I have no desire to do anything else but this. Love this signing. We have a gigantic crater in an actuall offensive position in 2b/3b/RF and everyone wants to pay out the wazoo for a marginal offensive gain at catcher. Unless buster posey is available I have no desire to trade the farm for a .760 ops catcher when we can go and sign a great 2b for 10 million and have a much better offensive upgrade. Dick Allen Posted November 25, 2015 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Catchers almost as a rule can't hit. It's better the Sox spend no trade chips on a mediocre guy. This guy is a lot like Geo except left handed. No average, decent OBP, power, decent defensively.
