ChiSoxFanMike
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 42s42 seconds ago Sounds like Jacob Turner is healthy and goes to camp with a shot at #WhiteSox rotation. Rotation? What? What about EJ or Danks?
Whisox05
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Rotation? What? What about EJ or Danks? Some asked him that and this is Dan's reply @AaronLemingNFL just in the mix. They take like 6-7 guys every year who are "in the mix." https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/672844842733576197
Whisox05
$1.5-million gamble on Jacob Turner gives #WhiteSox 8 starters who could be in mix in 2016 (10 if Beck is healthy and Fulmer comes fast). https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/672847011163545600 Hahn was asked if he thought fulmer could do a Rodon and be pushing into a spot next year and said basically it's up to fulmer to show it but definitely believes has has the makeup to do it
Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Rotation? What? What about EJ or Danks? They're not just going to hand the job to them. Competition is a good thing.
Dick Allen
The fluff version is he is competing for a job, the reality is, it's a long shot he is in the rotation on opening day. He pitched in 2 minor league games this season, and his major league NL ERA was over 6.00 in 2014.

Chisoxfn
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 11:21 AM) Exactly. Do you remember the hard sell Hahn gave on Brad Penny last offseason? Ha. I was just responding to DA about how Brad Penny was supposedly competing for the rotation last spring as well. In Penny case their is no upside, but their is zero chance this team has currently earmarked Turner for a rotation spot. That said, they view him as depth and sure, he could show he's healthy and has all of the stuff that once made him a top prospect / effective big leaguer (and he's still very young) but I think it is more likely we see him in the pen. That said, if his stuff is back, I'd have different opinions and I'm not clear as to how much injuries truly impacted him the past two years. Bob Sacamano
They'll likely bring in another guy on a minor league deal to compete as well. And to just keep in the minors.

Chisoxfn
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) ? That first Turner should be Penny. I have corrected it.
bmags
Gotcha, yeah I think this is just lottery ticket and one I'm glad to hap. He may just be Drabek pt. 2 but I'm happy to take those in every year. Gotta hit once.
CWSpalehoseCWS
Turner will end up being the equivalent of Drabek next year. Although I think he has a much better chance to stick with the club out of the pen than Drabek did.
