Y2Jimmy0
Summary: Hahn is excited about Winter Meetings but has until Spring Training to shape the club. No artificial timelines even though he'd love to fill some of his needs immediately. Likes keeping everything close to the vest because of past experiences. i.e. Leaks of deals, talk affecting trade negotiations. Rogers asked about how often teams use the media: Hahn says it's less than you think (bulls***) because all 30 teams regularly speak with each other. He wants to find a way to improve the offense. Hahn said they "won't rest on betting on internal improvement" but guys could absolutely bounce back. They asked about bringing in 2 new catchers: Said He, KW, Robin, Coop etc discussed all of this. He says he'd be more worried if it were 2 rookie catchers rather than 2 vets. Said both guys are good game-callers that have caught Cy Young winners in the past and know the AL. He said the quote about how there are no untouchables on the roster. "JR has only had one untouchable ever and he wore #23." Hahn then joked that it wasn't Robin. With that being said, they always receive tons of interest in their pitching. Knows how valuable guys like Sale, Q, and Rodon are. Wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't listen but they'd need to be overwhelmed. Erik Johnson and Jacob Turner will both be battling for rotation spots in spring training
Chisoxfn
You know...its great to hear about the offense, but what about the historically bad defense the Sox have played the past few years? The fact that I keep seeing all this talk about the "offense" makes me worried we are still in delusional fill and aren't focused on addressing the right problem. That said, the offense we brought in thus far is at least solid defensively (i.e., catcher) and lets be honest, most of the so called "offense" on this team that sucks defensively also tends to suck offensively so those hills are probably going to get filled by a better defender anyway (if we actually address them). Thanks for sharing the summary
Baron
He wasnt on long which was a little disappointing. I was hoping he would talk about Montas and where he views him in a year or two.
GGajewski18
QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) He wasnt on long which was a little disappointing. I was hoping he would talk about Montas and where he views him in a year or two. It's Kaplan and Rogers. They probably talked for 5-8 minutes, hung up, then proceeded to talk about the Cubs again. Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 08:17 AM) It's Kaplan and Rogers. They probably talked for 5-8 minutes, hung up, then proceeded to talk about the Cubs again. They pretty much wasted the first 3 questions talking about nonsense too. One thing I took from it is that we probably won't be disappointed by a Q trade. Hahn knows how much value he has. If he has actually pulls the trigger, there's a huge package coming in return. Bob Sacamano
Anyone else think it's possible they deal Q for a great return and then sign someone like Kazmir or Leake or the Japanese pitcher to take his spot? I just think once Cueto and Samardzija sign there won't be too many teams throwing money at these guys (though I guess it's possible Dodgers sign one of those guys then another listed above).
