GGajewski18
Brian Bilek @ChiSoxraBBit 7m7 minutes ago #WhiteSox talking to free agents with QOs attached. Upton is their prime target. Should be an interesting few days. There were rumors at the deadline that the Sox liked Upton.

YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
No. No. No. Please don't let this happen. I'd much prefer Cespedes or Heyward.

Agree on both (though I don't even want Cespedes haha).
BlackSox13
I really hope not. If the Sox are going to give up a pick for a FA then try to get Heyward in a contract with an opt-out Claus. Heyward's defense, LHB and low K rate are much more appealing.
GGajewski18
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) No. No. No. Please don't let this happen. I'd much prefer Cespedes or Heyward. I think Heyward will be too much money for the Sox (I prefer him over Upton as well), but Upton is still in his prime and would bring much needed power to this line up. He did steal 19 bases as well last year.
TheFutureIsNear
Sign Upton Trade Avi + a decent prospect for Lawrie Bring back Alexei last minute Sound about right?
Knackattack
Upton is a good player and would be a fine addition to the team but not for the draft pick we will lose and the contract he will get. Also, if we sign 2 QO players, do we lose our comp pick and 2nd rounder, or 2nd and 3rd rounders?
Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) Upton is a good player and would be a fine addition to the team but not for the draft pick we will lose and the contract he will get. Also, if we sign 2 QO players, do we lose our comp pick and 2nd rounder, or 2nd and 3rd rounders? WE lose the Samardzija pick to sign a QO free agent. We would lose our 2nd rounder as well if we signed two guys
Bob Sacamano
If we're going to sign a power outfielder I'd rather sign Cespedes since we won't give up a draft pick.
Y2Jimmy0
Nightengale predicted Upton to the White Sox so you know there's definitely some truth to it.

daggins
depends on the contract. if they lose the comp pick but get upton for 100MM or less then i'm absolutely fine with it. Like, 5/95 - 5/100 if the sox lose the amateur draft pick one might expect them to go hard for international players next July 2nd? just a thought

Bob Sacamano
Would Upton, trading for Lawrie, re-signing Alexei be enough? It feels like we would still need to make one more addition to put us over the top. I already figure Thompson and LaRoche to platoon in any scenario (Thompson in OF, whichever OF needs a break at DH). Yet I don't know what else they should do since I don't think they should rebuild (...yet).

Upton is a nice player and I think only 2 years older than Heyward.
