OmarComing25
If it's Avi/Trayce or Avi/Engel I'd be fine with that, please not both Trayce and Engel. Would be sad to see Thompson or Engel go though. Edited December 9, 2015 by OmarComing25
bmags
Can't keep up with the thread, but from the SSS article on this, it looks like they are implying Lowrie may have just never been good with the glove, and was given credit for shfits that allowed him to make plays he otherwise wouldn't have made. That went away and last year happened. http://www.southsidesox.com/2015/12/9/9877...or-brett-lawrie
bmags
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Bruce is really good at waiting until something comes out, and then saying he knew it all along. He is either the worst reporter in the world, because he won't break a story, or he is a liar. I'll let everyone else be the judge., Yeah but he had a good deadline last year, so its hard not to pay attention.

Dick Allen
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) And Oakland blog had similar conclusions. Really worries me. I was reading something about him from a Toronto guy giving an Oakland board a scouting report, and he said he made many spectacular plays at 3B and had a really nice arm. He probably won't win a GG, but he is an upgrade over Conor that is for sure, and I would imagine over Youk, and the Sox did OK with Youk. royoung
A possible name to keep an eye on....when I visited Winston-Salem in August I talked to several scouts from different organizations who LOVED Trey Michalczewski. The Winston-Salem roster was loaded but Michalczewski was the first name I always heard.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) Sox have been negatively affected by the shifts so by this logic, the Sox defenders aren't nearly as bad as they're put out to be. While I tend to agree, if we made a Trayce-Lawrie trade in July, this site would ecstatic. There are probably contingencies in place and "tiered" groups of players. One thing is sure: Hahn and A's GM David Forst have a good relationship. They spoke about the Samardzija trade (starting during the 2014 season) in many different forms over the span of months last year. A's very familiar with our system. Thank you. I feel like I am the only one who isn't a Trayce believer. He had an incredible start, and a quick downturn to where he would be expected to hit. The defense is impressive, but I just don't see the bat being there. If he can get us a starting 3B, I am OK with that.

But I fear his bat will never be what we think it can be and he will bounce around as a defensive guy for awhile.

I wouldn't say I am a full believer quite yet but with the tools he has its more of a roll of the dice that I would want to do for a mediocre third basemen at this point. flavum
No doubt, back in June we'd probably shrug at Trayce Thompson getting traded. But the team (not just fans) actually saw him play for a couple months...and very well. They drafted an athlete, and it took him a while to develop. He's a smart kid with a great pedigree. For a team that is defensively challenged, it would be pretty surprising if he was involved in a Brett Lawrie trade. I think Thompson will be in CF or RF on opening day in Oakland...playing for the White Sox.

fathom
I loved what I saw from Trayce last year, but if you can use him as a main piece to acquire a young starting 3b...then nice job selling high on him.
Harry Chappas
Not to sound like a meathead but the value of Trayce in the Golden State Warrior part of the country adds to his appeal there and may generate some over valuation there Wonder what a Sonny Gray / Brett Lawrie package would consist of.
