LDF
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 05:58 AM) @MarkBermanFox26 Told #Astros getting closer Ken Giles from Phillies for pitchers: Vince Velasquez, Bret Oberholtzer &OF Derek Fisher, pending physicals. Pretty good haul for the Phillies. yeah i agree, i just read that on trade rumors. philly escape on that trade. i still would like the sox to check in on the closer the astro are dealing. i am wondering, are they blowing up the team, b/c if they are, marwin gonzález and evan gattis are players i would like to see if the sox could swing a trade. there is no way the sox will be able to do anything in trading for springer or altuve unless they are trading from their crowded pitching staff. BlackSox13
Good grief. Between the Braves and Phillies, those farms have some serious talent. Should be interesting to see how those kids develop over the next few years. Philli did well.
Knackattack
Ridiculous the amount of talent they just got for a closer. If I was a Houston fan, I'd be pissed. Not as bad as what the DBacks gave up for a #3 starter.. but wow
GreenSox
Teams with stuffed farms that are ready to compete can and do that sort of thing.
ChiSoxFanMike
I wonder what DRob would bring in a trade.
LDF
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 02:18 PM) I wonder what DRob would bring in a trade. hou wanted kimbrel at the trading deadline and the Padres wanted 4 player, 2 rp,one really good sp. so using that time i would imagine 2-3 decent prospects. if the sox do not over extend their hand. the rtn for giles is an interesting case, but getting a haul like Atl, that will not happen . Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:56 PM) Good grief. In a couple years when the Braves develop some guys and are ready to compete, a deal for Quintana or Sale could make sense...just saying. Jose Abreu
Giles got that much? Damn... these pitchers have more value than I thought.
Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:05 AM) Giles got that much? Damn... these pitchers have more value than I thought. Giles has 5 years of control though. But yes, a bit much for a relief pitcher in my opinion even though the Astros don't really need any of the players they traded. GGajewski18
Pretty big surprise, but OF Derek Fisher was not involved in the deal. He was replaced with SP Mark Appel. The last 3 #1 draft picks are not with their current team. Wow
flavum
If you would have asked a week ago who Ken Giles is, I wouldn't have a clue. Good season, but never cared to watch a Phillies highlight. Heard Luhnow this week say he expected Appel to pitch for the Astros in 2016. Guess snot. GGajewski18
QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) If you would have asked a week ago who Ken Giles is, I wouldn't have a clue. Good season, but never cared to watch a Phillies highlight. Heard Luhnow this week say he expected Appel to pitch for the Astros in 2016. Guess snot. Giles is really good. Just played for a really bad team. From the Phillies perspective, getting Velasquez, Appel, and Oberholtzer could fill out 60% of their rotation this year lol. Hellickson, Nola, Velasquez, Oberholtzer, Appel. EDIT: Scratch that. I forgot that acquired Matt Harrison and Charlie Morton Edited December 12, 2015 by SoxPride18
Y2Jimmy0
The Astros could have Kris Bryant and Carlos Rodon right now.
whitesoxfan99
What a ridiculous overpay. I really wonder what the Sox could get for Quintana with what teams have been giving up for guys this offseason.
BigEdWalsh
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) What a ridiculous overpay. I really wonder what the Sox could get for Quintana with what teams have been giving up for guys this offseason. That's other teams. It doesn't work that way for the Sox.
