aboz56
Hypothetically, I've figured out what we'd have to do the rest of the way if we swept the Twins in order to win the division. Additionally, I've figured the scenario in which we'd take 2 out of 3. If another scenario happens, we're basically screwed so I didn't figure out those. (These scenarios also include the Twins BEATING Cleveland today.) Scenario One (We Sweep) If we sweep, we will have 10 games remaining and the Twins will have 9 left. If we won 7 of our last ten, the Twins would have to win their 9 remaining games in order to tie us. Winning 8 or more of our last 10 would put the division out of reach. If we went 6-4, they'd have to win 8 of 9 to tie us. If we went 5-5, they'd have to win 7 of 9 to tie us. And so on.... Scenario Two (we take 2 of 3) In this scenario, if we won 7 of our last 10, the Twins would need to take 8 out of 9 in order to tie us. If we went 6-4, they'd have to win 7 out of 9 to tie us. If we went 5-5, they'd have to win 6 out of 9 to tie us. And so on... Plain and simple, SWEEPING would be huge.
VAfan
I think you've correctly placed the critical point at a 9-4 finish. That may only yield a tie unless the Tigers get tough and decide not to set the record for losses in a season.

One can only hope and pray that is all it takes, because i believe it will take better.
CubKilla
A sweep would be great. 2 of 3 at the very minimum. Less than that, and you can forget the PostSeason unless MN has a monumental '69-like Cubs breakdown against Detroit and Cleveland.
aboz56
I'd feel pretty damn good if we went 9-4. If we could take 2 out of 3 versus NY and Minny, we'd have to take 5 of 7 versus KC in order to do that, which I think we can easily accomplish. In fact, I could see us doing even better against KC if our bats get hot.
KeithFranklin
Hopin the Yankess have clinched before we play them next week... They are up 5.5 over Boston ... 7 games befor they play the Sox (4 Baltimore and 3 Tampa Bay)... Would hate for them to be in a position to clinch versus the Sox. Wise Master Buehrle
If they clinch, you can almost guarantee they'll be resting some of their top players. Kansas City has been slumping for awhile, I now expect them to finish the season strong, and this includes the series against us. The games against KC are not going to be a cake walk. DonkeyKongerko
I'm praying the Yankees clinch before they get to us. They have plenty of big name Sox-killers that I wouldn't mind seeing on the bench. I still remember 2001 I think when they had huge losing streak to enter the postseason.
