LDF
QUOTE (VAfan @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 01:57 AM) This is EXACTLY why I like Cespedes. It's not always about the stats. a great answer.

ChiSoxFanMike
Like many other people have said over the past few days, Hahn will have to get creative in regards to payroll if he wants to go and get one of the big guns, but I'm confident that he'll be able to find a way to do it. Having LaRoche and Danks coming off the books after 2016 really helps too.

SoCalSox
I'm thankful for this forum though. This place not only keeps me entertained & informed but it also shows me that I'm not the only impatient one. Ha!

caulfield12
The last Christmas/New Year's move I can remember was the Danks/McCathy deal in late 2006.

I remember we traded Ivan Calderon for Tim Raines in 1990, I think it was, on Christmas Eve. Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 12:56 AM) So you guys think this will simmer until after the holiday and new year? With both basically having no market (it appears) I'm willing to bet they are the big free agents who don't end up signing until mid-January. Bigsoxhurt35
I fully expect this to drag on into January. This benefits us because the prices will come down. I think we can land one confidently now adding Lawrie and Frazier. Edited December 19, 2015 by SouthSideSale
caulfield12
With Cespedes and Upton both rumored by nearly every expert to be in $150 million territory, logic says that Gordon is the one to fall, like Scott Shields last year. The problem with this theory is that 4 years and $100 million is a lot more palatable to about half of MLB in terms of a max contract for their franchise...you can see Gordon falling to maybe $85-90 million, but that would be the absolute floor unless something comes up on a physical exam that draws a red flag and scares teams off (or is used as a negotiating tactic).
