SoCalSox
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 12:03 PM) I was wrong about you rabbit you have good connections keep the info coming. Didn't I call this a few pages back?
SoCalSox
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) This is not true, rosenthal, nightengale, heyman dont name who their sources are. If anyone starts naming their sources, then they dont have sources anymore. Rule 1 about having sources: Don't name your source. If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me to name my source(s) over twitter, I'd have at least a bill or two in my pocket.

If anyone starts naming their sources, then they dont have sources anymore. Apparently didnt fully read what I said. I said you can name the source or if you can't or don't want just say the word source. Yes they all have used the word source when they break information
Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) raBBit, if you had to guess right now, who do you think the Sox are getting? His guess is as good as ours. You won't know until they sign someone.
Frank_Thomas
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) I'm not going to go to war for myself so I'll keep it short. I was on the Sox interest in Frazier during the season (when the conversations started) and I was on Lawrie before Slusser/Levine. I got bad intel that the Sox we're going to sign Alexei to a two year deal after they rejected his option. I've been following along with OFer market and have been saying all offseason the Sox have been willing to lose the QO for the right FA while every other beat said the opposite (although lately their turne has changed...) I tweeted on Sunday the mainstream media would pick up on this early this week, Rosenthal tweeted the interest this morning. Take my info with a grain of salt. I don't care. I don't have one "source" I'm just out here listening and talking to anyone with a track record/an ear in the know and bouncing what I've heard off of every "source." Dick Allen's synopsis above is pretty accurate. I don't claim to know everything but I believe in networking, I'm persistent and I can bulls*** a little bit to get people to talk to me. Whether it's sports fandom, politics, education or personal relationship I believe in putting all the information out there. If I can help my fellow Sox fans with that then this makes my love for this team and fandom a little more fun. And we appreciate it. I wouldn't even give the people who doubt you the time of the day with a response. The majority of us get it ans those who don't, then ignore the info. But at least give the guy the respect he deserves. He's been right all offseason, not that that even matters. He chooses to share what he hears to us and we're the beneficiaries. When you sit there and nitpick just to troll it makes these guys want to stop. Hence why Rock stopped for a bit and Bucket posts less. Cause when they are wrong people are ruthless. No ones right 100% it's the fluidity of Free agency and or trade negotiations. I know all of us appreciate the info Rabbit, keep on keeping on. I said you can name the source or if you can't or don't want just say the word source. Yes they all have used the word source when they break information I read it, i just think its silly that you feel the word "SOURCE" validates the tweet. Believe or dont believe raBBit, he doesnt care, we dont care. He doesnt have to add "SOURCE" in order for it to be believable, and i doubt he will be doing so because you feel that way

Jerksticks
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) This is not true, rosenthal, nightengale, heyman dont name who their sources are. If anyone starts naming their sources, then they dont have sources anymore. My overall question to this is what's the overall point of having sources at all in sports media, specifically relating to offseason activity? Like what's the benefit of being the first to announce the Sox are trading for Frazier 9 minutes before it's officially announced? I almost feel sorry for guys like Rosenthal etc who spend so much time gathering information that is completely useless. As a fan I'm perfectly fine waiting the extra 9 minutes for something to be announced officially. What am I missing? Do they hand out cookies or extra money to guys for popping stories 9 minites early. What's sad is I feel like these guys are mostly used by front offices to plant stories for leverage. Front offices are awesome.

I am not on this board as much as I was years ago, so my comment was a general be skeptical until proven otherwise. Most people on the board are coming to Rabbit's defense and saying his info predated the mainstream media. I will take those people's word for it (Rabbit's) over my limited knowledge of his timeline. But in general when I see people post tweets from random dudes who claim to have inside info, I think it is BS. I think with every big move, the odds of Alexei coming back go up. Even if he doesn't stay as your starter, it gives you another option, especially if Saladino flops. Frank_Thomas
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) I know the Sox have a preference, but it takes two to tango. That spells out Gordon to me. Not sure why he isn't sure about joining the Sox? But if he can't decide if he wants to leave KC then let's get aggressive on Cespy and close the deal. Maybe a little heat on Gordon's camp makes them make a decision. I guess that's what's basically being reported right now by leaks anyways. Even if he doesn't stay as your starter, it gives you another option, especially if Saladino flops. Why would the Sox pay Alexei $5 million or whatever it'd take to get him to then put him in a bench role? If he's coming back, it's as a starter IMO. One thing I read about Saladino that may surprise people is according to Bill James, his time to 2nd base on steal attempts is only eclipsed by 3 players...a guy named Noel who basically is a minor leaguer, Billy Hamilton, and Dyson. Maybe he can become an elite basestealer.
