I'm confused by this. Why doesn't he want to see Fowler sign with the Sox? Also, what did he say about them & Cespedes?

Same defensive concerns that most of us have. Plus he's not sure he can play a corner outfield spot.

Before I got on the phone to the station he was saying he didnt expect Cespedes to get any kind of pay cut. Doesnt think anyone offering a 1,2,3 year deal gets him.

Ah gotcha.

Wasn't sure what type of context the conversation was in or anything like that.

FWIW, I'm really starting to think the Sox end up with close to nothing before the end of the season.

I just tried to cover all the bases we've been discussing on here. The 3 year deal rumor,Fowler,Cespedes and Garcia in the OF.

The most important one atleast for me was the by Friday he signs expectation. I just want this to be over with. But obviously if he does get the contract he originally wanted i dont think it'll be from us.

“I talked to Sandy (Alderson) today, and hopefully we’ll continue to move forward [in those negotiations],” Collins told Barry Bloom of MLB.com. “I don’t know where Cespedes is at contract-wise with anybody else, but I know he wants to come back to New York if he can. He’s a great player and we’d love to have him back.”

At this point I have no idea what direction this team wishes to take or will take. If RV takes this team nowhere early maybe they can trade Frazier and lawrie mid season to help build the farm system.

If this team tanks again, then it's time to say bye to Sale

#whitesox free agent spending last offseason: $132 million. FA spending this offseason: $6.5 million, and still holding.

Still same payroll as last year and supposedly had money to offer big contracts to either shark or tanaka. So where's that money at

They spent $132 million over something like 15-20 seasons worth of signings on the free agent market, starting with a payroll of something like $75 or 80 million to get them up to the what they finished the off season at. This year they started the off-season something like 35 or 40 million dollars above where they started last year.

That tweet it taking two completely different things and trying to equate them.

Which is exactly why the Sox aren't rushing to spend a lot in long term payroll obligations.

No one is expecting them to spend "a lot", just some. As in on this one contract to a top tier talent to address a glaring weakness on the ball club. This team is now one of only three teams in baseball to never offer a contract greater than $70M. They can swing it, and they should; that is, if they are serious about winning and taking advantage of the window of opportunity they bring up all of the time as it relates to the prime years of the team's core.

Upton to the Tigers, so you can cross one more team off the list.

Ok Rick. We get it, you're a slick poker play. Now time to make a play.
