After years saying he never bet on baseball as Reds player-manager, Rose told Manfred he bet on EVERY Reds game: http://fw.to/s85xfdM

"For many years, Rose denied he had bet on baseball as a player-manager with the Cincinnati Reds in 1985-86. In his September meeting with Manfred, according to the commissioner's decision, Rose said he had bet on every Cincinnati Reds game. Manfred said he had evidence Rose had not bet on every Reds game."

KEEP LYING.

The guy is the biggest liar in the history of the game. He waved his hand and continued to lie and even when he "came clean" he was still lying and lying. Unless you open up a wing for cheaters, Rose should never be admitted into the hall of fame and he absolutely should be banned from the game.

Magnificent hitter, and true grinder. Also a sleezeball human, incapable of being truthful, even with his reputation on the line. He can stay out.

I'd sooner accept the most obvious roiders into the HOF than this guy who bet on baseball while playing and coaching, and then lied about it repeatedly for decades.

True, but I bet there are way more shady characters already in the HOF.

Empty argument IMO. That's like telling cops not to go after some criminals because others got away with it previously. You go get the guys you know are bad, as best as you can. It isn't a reason to let more bad ones in.

I think Pete Rose should be inducted in the HOF. But all of his transgressions should be listed too so they are not forgotten. I just hate the whole excluding him and acting like he never existed. He did exist and he was a hell of a hitter, but he also broke some major rules. That's all part of MLB history and should all be included in its major museum.

Don't forget he was one of the biggest racist ever!

Rose could kill a guy and he wouldn't even be half a piece of s*** as Cobb was.

Rose made his decisions and must now face the consequences.

I think Manfred was spot on regarding him working in baseball -- the guy is simply too much of a threat to the integrity of a game where competitive balance and fairness are paramount.

The Hall of Fame discussion, though, is more about "penance" to me. The more I think about it, the more I'm softening -- he has been and will always carry the shame of being banned from the game for his proclivities (he'll be remembered for it long after he dies) regardless of his induction into the HOF. I don't see a point in pretending his hitting was somehow tainted and unworthy of enshrinement.

His playing career belongs in the HOF; he absolutely still deserves to be banned from baseball and should continue to be ashamed.

I wish this level of outrage for cheaters who lie to try to cover their tracks existed in football.

The NFL is a league founded by bookies looking for a way to make money. It's a league that owes the interest in it to gambling including vegas and fantasy football. They will never by that tough on these types of issues.
