GGajewski18
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 05:46 PM) All three may be excessive, but I unno. I meant or lol. My bad. Any one of them 3 is a must.
Bigsoxhurt35
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:45 PM) Too many misses with Trout and Pujols on the roster means that Moreno has to do something more substantive because they're a middle of the road, borderline contender as currently constructed. screw its let's trade Rodon, Anderson and Fulmer for Trout

Bigsoxhurt35
I also gota applaud the Front Office for getting their number one target of the offseason. Good job guys.
Bigsoxhurt35
I will say the Dodgers will have a nasty prospect rotation. Just said it on MLBN (Montas, Urias, De Leon, Anderson, Lee) Edited December 16, 2015 by SouthSideSale
fathom
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 12:43 AM) No new oufielder and Saladino at SS means the Frazier deal is essentially for naught... Sure if you anticipate everything going wrong like it did last year

Bigsoxhurt35
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) You mean the Marlins in a few days Tentatively that's the rotation. I fully expect to see a Fernandez deal in the next week. Maybe the Marlins liked some of our prospects like Montas and that's why they were involved. Hell if the Marlins are trading stars let's get Stanton lol
bmags
I can't believe Fernandez coming of TJ and a not so good recovery is going to get such a massive haul. I still think Sox, even with this trade, may be better with trading Quintana, faster.
Bigsoxhurt35
@ckamka Only players with 60+HR and 25+ SB since start of 2014 Todd Frazier (64,33) and Mike Trout (77,27) Edited December 17, 2015 by SouthSideSale

Dick Allen
The Sox are also going to need a pitcher or 2. Teams usually don't make it through entire, seasons with 5 or 6 starters.

I think they view Turner as one option from a depth perspective, but I do think they are going to add an arm and an outfielder. I expect the arm will be a solid player where as the outfielder will be a more high profile move.

One guy I wouldn't mind them looking at because he would be minimum and worked well with Coop is Edwin Jackson.
bmags
I still can't believe how bad Bonifacio was. Anyway, I say sign Brad Penny and then turn on the Hahn charm machine that that will be an important signing.

I definitely agree. He had success here before. I could see Brandon Beachy and Tim Lincecum being good gets as well.
SoCalSox
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) I agree. That's why signing Upton, Cespedes, and Gordon is a MUST. 100% agree with this. I think they pretty well know that, too. I think it's more of a "when" they add an OF'er, instead of an "if". My personal prediction: Sox sign Upton & get a back end of the rotation type guy w/ some short term upside.

I could get behind Jackson. I also think he'd profile nicely as a reliever (so he could in essence be a swing guy).
Saufley
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 06:03 PM) I can't believe Fernandez coming of TJ and a not so good recovery is going to get such a massive haul. I still think Sox, even with this trade, may be better with trading Quintana, faster. Did Fernandez have a problem coming back from TJ surgery? I checked his stats from this year and if he came off the DL in July he was pretty good. 64 IP 2.92 ERA 79 k's. Am I mixing him up with someone else? Bigsoxhurt35
One thing I wonder is how much we value our draft picks in terms of signing a guy. Now it's probably not a huge deal when you're giving someone a $100 million contract
BlackSox13
I think there's a few things to consider in reference to signing one of the big FA outfielders. The upgrades of Avila and Navarro at Catcher and then the trade for upgrades at 3B/2B with Frazier/ Lawrie show those free agents the Sox are serious about contending in '16. Should be much more enticing than where the Sox were just a few weeks ago. Edited December 17, 2015 by BlackSox13

Jose Abreu
Lawrie's defense at 2B is better than his defense at 3B, right?
caulfield12
Fernandez is only "possibly" being made available because of the dysfunctional organization/Loria and rumors he's (shock) unhappy with the direction of the franchise and unlikely to sign long-term/extend...if you can't figure out a way to take advantage from a marketing perspective of a kid like that in South Florida, I'm not sure what you can say other than good luck to Giancarlo Stanton, Barry Bonds and Don Mattingly.
