I should know better than to read these threads, nothing but unfounded negativity. I am absolutely fired up about this trade and there is more on the horizon. The Sox are gonna be nasty this season.

Geez, it's not been that negative. Just because some of us question sending 3 big leaguers for 1 as possibly being an overpay doesn't mean we don't like the idea of Frazier. You must want 100 percent gung-ho-ism about this deal.

It's truly amazing to me how anyone could be down about this trade. Most who don't like it believe Trayce will turn into a superstar or that Frazier will turn into Josh Fields.

Those 3 prospects we traded all will be in the big leagues this year. It's more than human nature to be a bit concerned about an NL slugger coming over to the AL. Not down about the trade, but not doing cartwheels. We've been there and been burned before.

Comprehensive analysis of the trade by ESPN gives White Sox and Dodgers winning marks, questions what the Reds were thinking...

Looks like there's a good chance Thompson and Pederson could be platoon partners in CF.

One thing is for sure, between Van Slyke, Crawford, Ethier, Pederson, Puig and Thompson, at least one of those players has to go (and the Dodgers would prefer to dump Crawford or Ethier and get younger).

Lol. Still sticking with the three big league players thing. If that's the case the Dodgers are going to be in last place.

Unless Trayce and Micah get traded again, they will not be in the big leagues next year more than a late call up/pinch runner. Montas is the only one that has the potential to be anything more than an average major leaguer. The Sox cannot develop positional players so I'm fine trading lower level prospects for All Star black-hole filling third baseman.

Please elaborate.

A few years ago, Kenny was making significant trades and announcing free agent signings on Wednesdays. It was kind of a joke, it's Wednesday so Kenny must be up to something . . . .

I have a feeling that this is more of a Kenny Williams win now move, rather than a Rick Hahn build through the system move. Not that trading for Frazier is a bad thing. I just thought it was interesting.

Right now, the Dodgers are projecting Thompson to platoon with Pederson in CF, Micah with Kiki Hernandez at 2B and Montas in the pen/AAA/or packaged for a frontline starting pitcher.

That means Van Slyke and Ethier/Crawford (best deal available to Friedman) are likely gone. At least one of those three.

Since they just went to the trouble of trying to project an image of solidarity between Puig and Kershaw down in Cuba, it's either they are set to keep Puig and repair the off-season PR damage/not sell low or the greatest con game in history.

What is the infatuation that some people have in degrading and dismissing Rick Hahn as the GM. It doesn't matter if KW had a hand in this, or any trade. I am sure Reinsdorf had to be involved too. Rick sets the table and then KW has to provide a lighter for the candles and Reinsdorf lights them. It's a team effort folks. That's how successful organizations run. That's how big business decisions get made. Give these people some credit

I like this trade. Puts a solid bat w Abreu although I wish it was a lefty. But a 25+ HR guy you take any time. He also can play 1st and is pretty good defensively there. At third , like Lawrie he is mediocre. Now Hahn needs a 3/4 starter and a OF.

I don't see a chance in hell them platooning Pederson with Trayce. That would be hilariously stupid

Late to the party here, but want to be on record for future reference.

1. Trade makes sense if you are one player away from "going places." I think Sox are like 4-5 players away.

2. I don't think Lawrie can play second. Just my opinion, hopefully I am wrong.

3. Sox add yet another guy who can't draw a walk. What new?

He played second at times for Oakland.

Frazier is not mediocre at 3B defensively, he's very good.

4-5 players? We didn't lose 100 games this year.

I know Lawrie did play second. He started his career at 2B. If he could play it well, why would you move him to 3B? He looks so muscle bound and stiff throwing the ball, I'd like to see him on the pivot at 2B.

Statistically speaking he actually plays it quite well. Kept moving between 2nd and 3rd because of team needs for A's and Jays
