GGajewski18
Jeff Fletcher @JeffFletcherOCR 8m8 minutes ago The Angels have signed Daniel Nava to a one year deal. Could be the LF platoon with Gentry. This guy suggests that they could be a platoon, so would it take them out of the Cespedes/Upton sweepstakes? If so, one less team to go up against. Bigsoxhurt35
I hope so. Teams taking themselves out of these sweepstakes is good for the Sox $$$ wise with one of these OFers. But boy oh boy the Angels love having a load of OFers.

They have Trout, Calhoun, Gentry, and Nava. Do they still have DeJesus?
Jose Abreu
Yes, that OF is now set at Platoon/Trout/Calhoun
Dick Allen
If this is in leiu of signing a real outfielder, It seems strange. How much are they paying theses guys?

bmags
I'm glad you did. The only thing is if it turns out Cespedes market isn't red hot, I think the Mets take him back.

Chisoxfn
Umm....these are two guys who are total bums. They invested nothing in them. This is purely depth moves. Why would these moves (1.5M for Nava and whatever small amount for Gentry and his .396 OPS for 2015) preclude a club from going after a major free agent. Chisoxfn
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) Angels themselves said they're out. They said "probably". With Moreno's track record, this could just as much be a negotiating ploy. They were never "in" on Hamilton until they thought they were getting a value and than boom. This could just as much be a negotiation ploy than anything else. Either way, if they think these are the solutions than they are delusional. Bigsoxhurt35
I do feel Destroit and LAA could be lying in the weeds in this market.
daggins
Its a tricky game, because you don't want the Sox competing with themselves and overpaying, but you also don't want them to draw things out so that LA or Detroit or even the Mets or Royals can pounce on a lower market price. Dick Allen
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) It was just announced that Pujols is very likely going to have to player a lot of DH. They have CJ Cron but the Nava move makes sense for that reason. He still was great, and the declines were slight, but Pujols was trending down his last 3 years in St. Louis. What is that contract going to look like in a couple of years when he needs a walker with the tennis balls to get up to home plate?
