hi8is
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) Thank you sir. Really, I'm just middle aged and extremely young at heart. Too many village idiots in a town and it's not a very appealing place to be. There shall only be one regularly retarded drooling fool around these corners... And I shall always wear the dunce cap with pride. To infanity, and beyond.

greg775
Signing Gordon to a very lucrative four year deal just doesn't seem KC-like to me. It's not how they operate. That's not been their mo-jo. I can't see KC going more than 15 mill a year no matter the amount of years. And I think 15 mill a year average would truly be high for them. They actually don't need Gordon if Dyson has a great year. I'm hoping KC has a bad year anyway. Their starting pitching doesn't look robust. It's more Royals like to sign Parra or go with Dyson/Orlando and sign a starting pitcher for reasonable dollars.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) I think the market will develop drastically over the next week or two. I still have a good feeling the Sox get one of the three, too. We as fans ride the highs of getting a good player & expect more right after. A week passes by & that high turns into doubt. Perfectly normal but patience is key with the MLB FA market. As soon as the first of the three signs, the next two will go quickly... I get the feeling. Bigsoxhurt35
@SSS_joshnelson I think the White Sox chances of signing Upton are pretty slim. Not for a lack of interest from the team, but more so from Upton's.

Not for a lack of interest from the team, but more so from Upton's. This is also the guy who said don't be surprised the Sox made a move on Christmas Eve. I don't think he has any inside knowledge, just trying to seem like he does. Why wouldn't Upton want to play for the White Sox if they were offering the most money? Preposterous. shipps
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) @SSS_joshnelson I think the White Sox chances of signing Upton are pretty slim. Not for a lack of interest from the team, but more so from Upton's. So if they are willing to pony up the money to pay a guy like Upton who would theoretically come with a substantially higher price than Gordon they should be able to do whatever it takes to make a Gordon deal get done, right? Dick Allen
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:11 AM) How often do the White Sox offer the most money, especially in the last decade? Several times. They don't get discounts on everyone. Especially highly coveted free agents, a market they really hadn't been in from 1997-2010. Who offered Adam Dunn, Adam LaRoche, Jose Abreu, David Robertson more money? If they really think or thought they would get one of these guys on a discount because they really want to play for the White Sox, they aren't going to be signing them. The guy tweeting has already shown he is a poser, who apparently likes his status as some sort of insider without inside information. The White Sox could be scared off by the demands, but if you think Upton wouldn't play for the White Sox if they offered the most money because he doesn't want to play for the White Sox, you are kidding yourself. SoCalSox
That tweet would line up with what Bucket & raBBit have said, though. Upton will get paid the most & due to age, he's probably going to be the most popular. Also some smoke that with the way the market is developing, he may take a 1 year "pillow deal". Personally, I'm not to keen on the idea of giving up the 29th overall pick for a 1 year guy. I really think Alex Gordon ends up on the Sox within the next week or two. It was reported Astros offered David Robertson more money for sure. The Sox were overbid on Victor Martinez, which led to their bid on Dunn, though most teams weren't interested in Dunn. The Abreu bid was the leader, but only because the biggest spending teams in baseball didn't need a 1B. Adam LaRoche was a two year/ $25 million deal, and has been a bust. I guess that is worth noting that his only other decent offer was a 2/20 from the Marlins.

These top guys are under pressure from the union to sign the biggest contracts. Heyward was able to say the Cubs didn't offer the most money, but we know while technically it is true, it also is a bit fudged. Again, if the White Sox don't offer the most money for Gordon or Cespedes, they won't be signing them, and if Upton is at the point he is thinking about signing a 1 year pillow because he doesn't want to even consider taking the White Sox money, c'mon man. I think the problem is the assumption the Sox will be offering the Upton the largest deal. This franchise has a lot of history that shows otherwise. MDWhiteSoxFan
Earlier on Hot Stove Rosenthal said he expects the Sox to sign one of either Cespedes or Gordon. I'd be good with both, personally prefer Cespedes due to no pick compensation, a little younger (maybe) and more power. I wouldn't second guess a signing for Gordon as he brings elite defense, left handed bat, and a guy that gets on base.
