I've noticed over the last two seasons that he is quite good at hitting baseballs.

He's probably right up there with swings out of the zone too. He's good in that he wants to drive guys home but that got exploited a bit his 2nd year. He needs to be more patient especially if the lineup gets much stronger around him . Take a lesson from the Big Hurt , make the pitchers come to you .

While his numbers were definitely down from 2014, if you look at his splits it's pretty much all from LHP.

2014:

RHP: .305/.364/.555

LHP: .353/.437/.662

2015:

RHP: .308/.360/.548

LHP: .232/.306/.352

His numbers against RHP stayed almost exactly the same, but he went from murdering LHP to struggling mightily against LHP. Both were probably a bit fluky, so if he can just split the difference between the two LHP splits next year, he'll be primed to have another monster year.

I pointed this out a couple of months ago. People were so upset about the 14 starts LaRoche made against lefties, yet the problem the Sox had with lefties is hardly anyone hit them, and Abreu's OPS was down over .400 vs them. You would have to think that should bounce back a bit.

50 at bats last year? Small sample size. He has power vs lefties which is what sox need.

I wonder what that was accustomed to? They don't face any seriously good LHP in ALC. The White Sox have the best LHP in the AL!

Late inning lefty specialists? He hit .219 and .231 in the 8th and 9th. I wouldn't be surprised if many of those he faced were lefties.

Why would managers bring in a lefty specialist to face Abreu?

I didn't say it was logical to bring them in to face him, but since there are virtually no LH starters in the Central, he must have faced them mostly in later innings.
