I don't think there was a separate thread for it, but a few months ago, Gawker lost a huge case against Hulk Hogan and was ordered to pay him $150M in damages for releasing a sex tape without his authorization. The New York Times had a story yesterday revealing that this case was the culmination of an almost decade-long war against Gawker by tech billionaire Peter Theil. Theil threatened to 'destroy' Gawker in 2006 if they revealed that he was gay; they did so in 2007. Since then, Thiel has spent millions of dollars scouring the country to find and fund lawsuits against Gawker with the sole intention of destroying them.

Merits of Gawker and that specific case and award aside, it's pretty troubling if we can have billionaires use the court system to wage personal wars to shut down media companies.

Or it highlights how corporations can run roughshod over the poor and middle class individuals without the deep pockets to fight for their rights.

But I agree with your point.

Honestly was more shocked that I apparently completely missed that Thiel funded James O'Keefe.

Lotta negative headlines on Hillary and the email thing this week. Are we getting closer to people caring about the emails?

No. Nothing new in there whatsoever, just another investigation that found "the state department's email protocals are weak and we classify way too much junk".

Your article's been INTERCEPTED by Klay Thompson.

Greg, the more you pile on her, the more you actually get people to want to support her. You're actually having the opposite of your intended effect, and the harder you try (how can the country possibly not see these things about her and be absolutely outraged???), the more difficult it's going to be to convince someone to change their minds.

Let's say you have spent 1-2 weeks of your life typing anti-Hillary messages here and perhaps at other sites. If you knew that you caused more people to back her than would have if you had said nothing at all, would it give you pause?

How many times at this site have you seen anyone emerge "enlightened" and change a position about anything? It's very rare.

Well, the other problem is what is he really asking for people to do?

1) Not vote?

2) Vote for Trump?

3) Vote for another candidate (like Green or Libertarian)?

4) Try to shift the Democratic Convention to Sanders by disrupting it???

It's one thing to be against someone, but then you need to offer up a better alternative and explain clearly why that alternative is better. You haven't been able to win a national election going mostly or completely negative since the 1988 Bush vs. Dukakis race.

I love my Bernie Bros friends that are basically saying their votes matter more and Bernie should be nominated, because Hillary clearly cannot defeat Trump.

Bernie appears perfect because no one has been targeting him. I have a feeling the right-wing political machine would be able to rip him apart.

Then again, I also thought Trump wouldn't be nominated.

I don't think Bernie is a real socialist so I say they should vote for Bernie. Why not?

But that's not a realistic solution unless he is able to run for president under another party's already established ballot, probably the Green Party.

I think that would get him on the ballot in at least 20 states, enough to tip the election in Trump's favor. Now whether he would actually choose that "nuclear winter" option, time will tell.

Bill O'Reilly says Clinton had a "bad week" last week in the email thing. He said if the FBI calls for indictment "it's over." Rudy Guliani says she is guilty, case closed. Intersting.

I see Greg is still wasting posts in my thread.

At least the 1-2 Trump/Hillary debates (she won't agree to more than 1-2 I bet; probably one) would be interesting. I like her recent stance on the email thing (I know I said I won't listen or watch her, but the Meghan McCain show played a few soundbites and I didn't turn off). When she gets asked about the email thing, now, her only line is: She laughs out loud then says, "That will not affect my candidacy or my presidency." Pretty good strategy by her. I'm surprised she doesnt preface the comment with: "LOL. That ol' thing? You are talking about emails? Emails? You are talking about emails? That ol' issue? That will not affect my candidacy or presidency." And walk away.

Meanwhile, Trump is gonna harp on the emails and keep saying, "Crooked Hillary." It's gonna be wild. He will call her that. No doubt. Whether it comes off as very rude will be the media's job to decipher (you know the answer).

GIVE ME BERNIE OR GIVE ME DEATH! New American rally cry or should be!

Hillary is gonna do everything she can to avoid debates. The only way she probably does it is if she gets to hand pick the moderators and the terms.

Will there even be one debate? Two? I'd say one maximum. She won't want the Trump insults.

p.s. Notice in all my anti Hillary ramblings, we never see anybody on here write anything where they are proud of their candidate Hillary, fired up about her candidacy and ultimate presidency.Hillary supporters are strangely quiet, it's as if they are supporting the coronation, but nothing about the specific candidate.

Think about it ... all my links and ramblings about my dislike for Hillary. Never anything in response that shows love for Hillary. Just a rebuff of my comments or links. Must be sad if you can't get fired up about your candidate.

Considering how thick Hillary's skin is and how fragile Trump's ego is, I can see her being fine with it.

Clinton may be a flawed candidate in numerous ways, but not when it comes to a debate and especially not when it's against a thin-skinned man-child.

She ought to absolutely own that format. It shouldn't even be fair. Especially considering that people are going to be saying how terrible she will do the entire runup.

Yeah, ball is in her court in a debate vs. Trump
