Quin
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:41 AM) People didnt know how ambassador jobs work? Ironically Strangesox posted an article today about the ambassador to Denmark. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archiv...denmark/497543/ If this is the worst that they found, then honestly the Democratic party is a lot cleaner than I would have expected. Ambassador positions have always been this way. George W Bush. UK Ambassador- Robert Tuttle He had raised more than $200,000 for Bush's 2004 re-election campaign and inauguration ceremony. He also held the post of United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom from July 2005 to February 2009. Other examples are Canada, David Wilkins, Sweeden, Teel Bivens, etc. Its so common, it actually has a name: Patronage Appointment. And if anyone thinks that Clinton or Trump wont make them, I have a really big bridge in Brooklyn that is for sale. In fact, you probably couldnt pick 2 candidates who were more likely to make patronage appointments. They both love nepotism. Anyway, I think theres a cliche, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The more they hack, the more I wonder what their true motivation is. Because I just dont believe that hackers are trying to do what is best for me. Maybe I am an old cynic, but something just seems odd about hackers all of a sudden becoming altruistic. Yeah, I immediately thought of the article earlier. Looked up the guy because he was a Hollywood producer, found it was a patronage appointment. Just entirely unshocked about this. I disagree with the practice, but it's not a new or a secret. DrunkBomber
I really wish they had the same info from the republicans. Id like to see how much shady s*** they do too. Politics in this country have gotten so bad that most people are just chalking most of this corruption up to business as usual in Washington. The media wont even mention any of the leaked emails except for the Colin Powell ones where he criticized Trump. We need a reset button for American politics because this has gotten way out of control. However I at least got an lol out of this one

USPS doesn't get taxpayer money. It's self sufficient. StrangeSox
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) Not really true. http://fortune.com/2015/03/27/us-postal-service/ That's a pretty misleading headline and story. Almost all of the $18b figure comes from an estimate on how much of a "gift" only allowing the usps to use mailboxes is worth, and when describing the reasons that the usps "loses" money there's no mention of the huge pension prefunding requirement put on them in the mid 2000's. Yep. "American taxpayers give an $18 billion dollar gift to the post office every year." $14 billion of that gift is an estimate of how much having a monopoly on first class mail and exclusive delivery to mail boxes is an economic advantage to the post office. True or not, that $14 billion dollars is the result of sales made, not taxes paid by citizens. It also makes no mention of the fact that the post office has to have an act of congress to increase rates. So, when the price of gas shoots up and stays up, competition can react with price increases, delayed delivery times, etc. The post office can't charge more or change delivery schedules, it has actual delivery requirements that it is supposed to maintain. $2 billion is savings from not paying real estate taxes, vehicle registration, etc. I'm pretty sure that's the deal for all government agencies. And the rest is savings the post office gets from borrowing from the Treasury at a reduced interest rate. Borrowing hardly qualifies as a gift from the taxpayers. I believe that means the money has to be paid back.

Just within the last few days he pulled that birther press conference stunt that seems to have royally pissed off the press, and now they're openly calling him out on his lies and actually using the word liar. More importantly, Clinton is still up solidly in all of the state polls she needs to be. PA still looks very solid democrat, and without that state Trump has only a handful of increasingly unlikely win scenarios compared to almost a thousand for Clinton. The electoral college map is just really tough even for a generic republican these days m Edited September 19, 2016 by StrangeSox

The electoral college map is just really tough even for a generic republican these days m Ya Im not claiming that he isnt going to do something stupid, I have no idea. Im just saying if he doesnt cause any self inflicted wounds and doesnt get demolished in the debates I think he is going to win. But again, Im not claiming either will happen. Jason Chaffetz is also pretty ruthlessly pursuing her server issue too. We have some crazy bomb situation going on the east coast and also had an unvetted refugee who claimed allegiance to Isis go to a mall in Minnesota and stab 8 people and then was killed by an off duty cop with a concealed carry license. Thats exactly the kind of stuff that is going to push more people to Trump. People want to act like Trump doesnt have a chance but the polls are trending in his favor in an enormous way. The democratic establishment picked Hillary to be the candidate in 2008. They made a huge mistake. Edit: Also because of all the stuff I listed before that nobody responded to. We just bombed the Syrian Army fighting AGAINST Isis yesterday. Jeh Johnson buys position as US Secretary of DHS from Obama and then is caught fabricating evidence about illegal immigration to protect Obama and influence the election. Apparently we are spending millions to build a border wall on Mexicos southern border to protect them from drug trafficking and money laundering. Justin Cooper admitted to the House oversight committee that him, Chelsea and Huma all had open access to her private server and classified info while the other 3 people subpoenad did what most innocent people do, plead the 5th. She violated a subpoena and preservation order and wiped 33000 emails with bleach bitt. She has committed several crimes. If she doe win she is going to get impeached. How can anyone refute that she has blatantly committed numerous crimes? And then we still might have something from Assange. Who knows if it will be significant but he might have something that buries her. Theres a reason everyone is trying to preemptively discredit Assange. Me, and a lot of people like me couldnt care less if this info came from Hitler himself if its authentic. If our elected leaders are participating in blatant corruption we have a right to know. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/electi...this-in-a-week/ Edited September 19, 2016 by DrunkBomber

DrunkBomber
More than 800 immigrants mistakenly granted citizenship WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. government has mistakenly granted citizenship to at least 858 immigrants from countries of concern to national security or with high rates of immigration fraud who had pending deportation orders, according to an internal Homeland Security audit released Monday. The Homeland Security Department's inspector general found that the immigrants used different names or birthdates to apply for citizenship with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and such discrepancies weren't caught because their fingerprints were missing from government databases. Just some more handy work by Jeh Johnson's DHS. The guy who bought his job from Obama for 561K.
