greg775
Folks, as a member of the media here I say don't blame Jon on this one. Read the story. Read the quotes. He was asked questions and answered them. I don't see him complaining. He's responding to questions and answering them honestly. What's wrong with that? I want a competitor on my team if I owned a team.

Capn12
I am all for seeing what the interest is in JG and letting his ass go. Huh?? In terms of quality starts, that being minimum 6 IP and 3 or fewer ER, the guy has gone out and had 6 quality starts in a row...compared to Buehrles 3 in a row, Colons 5 in a row, and Loaizas 0 in a row.....uh, I'm all for a 23 year old that can get it done in the heat of a pennant race. Not sure what else you wat the guy to do, considering hes taking up only 375K in salary!!!

DBAHO
At least the guy wants to pitch, and I think it's great him and MB have gone out on a limb thinking they should have pitched when JM has given da job to some1 else. It shows that they want da ball in their hand in a big situation, and it's great to see that especially from 2 young guys who will hopefully be with this club for the rest of their careers. The Critic
I'd need to SEE the interview rather than just read it. Sometimes, a player's meaning can be found in the tone of voice, inflections, and facial expressions. A lot of what he said looks like it could have been said in frustration or disappointment, and not so much a "me before the team" attitude. I think Garland has made some great strides this year, and I'm not eager to see him go at this point.

Good post. Things have to be looked at in the proper perspective. You've done that here.
southsider2k5
This thread cracks me up. JOn Garland saids something wanting to pitch and he is a complainer, yet if Frank Thomas had said the samething, everyone would be up in arms if Frank was called a complainer... Starting pitching is at a premium and we will nto get teh value in return. The guy is 24 years old, come on.

I agree that we shouldn't be hard on Jon. Jon Garland has shown he is a competitor. He wants that ball every fourth day and be out there on the mound. That's the kind of players you want on a team with championship aspirations. I think he realizes and says so in fact that Loaiza is the ace of the staff. Maybe in a year or two Jon can make himself into the ace.

That's because Frank can do no wrong and is above criticism in the eyes of most Sox fans. You should see the s*** I got on "one board" when I criticized Thomas. You'd have thought I was on a Cubs board criticizing ShamME

You should see the s*** I got on "one board" when I criticized Thomas. You'd have thought I was on a Cubs board criticizing ShamME I just don't get what the problem is with what Jon said. This isn't Jim Parque with a 9 era at AAA and an 83 mph fastball complaining. Since May the kid has done everything that was expected of him. His era is down around 3 1/2 and he has been very consistant. And note that he also said he understands that Loz has been the best pitcher on the staff this year, and he understands and respects the decesion.
