BlackSox13
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) Predictions on his contract? I'll say 3/$28M. I think he'll do better to be honest. I'll say 4/44-48M.

OmarComing25
Best outcome for the Sox if the Angels get him, and the Rockies still trade CarGo to St. Louis. I'm worried that CarGo getting traded hinges on the Rockies getting Parra though.

Parra looking for a 3 year deal has me even more curious how. I wonder if the Sox have moved on from Upton/Cespedes due to their demands and would rather sign a 2nd tier OF FA while there's still a selection to choose from. And as much as I'd hate it, so would Raburn going to the Tigers. It would also be really, really nice if someone signs Fowler soon.
BlackSox13
http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_29370...cluding-rockies "There has been speculation that Parra, a free agent who began his career with Arizona, is seeking a three-year deal in the neighborhood of $24 million, but Mijares would only say that his client wants a three-year contract. Mijares added that he hopes to have a decision "within the next few days." If 3/24M is true, I am all aboard the sign Parra bandwagon! Somehow, I think he gets more than that though. No doubt about it. My guess may have been high at 4/44-48M but 3/24M is very cheap and unlikely, even in this market.
Chicago White Sox
Parra has been bad the past two seasons and has far less of a track record than Span. No way do I see him getting more than Denard, let alone $14M to $16M per year. An AAV somewhere between $9M & $10M sounds about right to me. Baron
Yeah last year he wasnt very good. I dont care how much money he gets. I definitely dont want him in the OF. But if he does get 3 years. That's certainly not good news for us.

Baron
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Why not? Assuming you believe the rumors that we are only going 3 years on Cespedes or Upton. Parra was below replacement player level last year and could get 3 years out of a team. Same could be said for Span although he was better last year. OFers getting these years doesnt help lower the actual good players cost. Personally, I think it's naïve to think they could land either top 2 player on anything less than 4-5 years. I absolutely believe it is. I'm not optimistic at all that we land one of the OFers. Plus I'm not a big fan of Fowler so that doesnt leave many options.

Plus I'm not a big fan of Fowler so that doesnt leave many options. My confidence in them landing one of the big 2 has all but gone away at this point. I think Fowler is a good option at the right price, coupled with another (even small) upgrade at SS or SP.

SoCalSox
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) What has happened today to make you think that? Not just today but over the past few days. I feel like the longer this drags out, the more teams that will get involved due to a lower price & the Sox will get caught standing there. I'm currently trying to talk myself into either Fowler or Jackson just to keep from being disappointed. It's honestly more of a gut feeling than anything based on what I read & see. I hope they land one of the two but by nature, I'm more negative than I am positive.

I feel like the longer this drags out, the more teams that will get involved due to a lower price & the Sox will get caught standing there. I'm the opposite where I think the price is just too high for the Sox to commit to it, and eventually, a team like the Orioles or Tigers will get desperate enough to pay up. SCCWS
For those who see the Cubs games, how is Fowler as a CF. Would he be a significant upgrade on Eaton ( and can Eaton or Melky play RF)? I kind of like getting Fowler and a 5th starter for insurance at this point.

To me, he doesn't pass the eye test, and the metrics don't like him much either. DRS hates him, and UZR usually hates him too but said he was OK in 2015.
