If Sox can nab CarGo and hold onto Anderson/Fulmer, make the deal. Is it a stretch to think we could bring in 2 OF's? One on a trade (from Colorado, maybe they would take Laroche, a prospect and $$), and sign one of the remaining FA's (Fowler)? That would leave Sox with Fowler and CarGo playing the corners and move Melky to DH. They'd have to bump up payroll obviously, but it doesn't seem too drastic. Anyone?

 

No chance, way too much money. Sox don't seem to match up at all with the Rockies. Still think it's either Cardinals or Orioles if it's Cargo and Angels for Blackmon.

If they somehow found a taker for Laroche, maybe they could make it work. Oh wait, Laroche isn't going anywhere, the market has pretty much slammed that door.

That assumes the leftover $$ would get a "solid starting RHP". If the dollar amount for one of the current OFs is $18m (Gordon range), and Fowler is still in the $10-$12 million range (he's outperformed Parra the last couple years and the next-year projections like him better) what RHP are you going to get for $6-8 million that is a solid starter?
