I'm not sure what Nightingales angle is with the sox this offseason but it's been kinda downing rumors about the sox

He's got a direct line to Hahn and agents are using the sox for leverage with their own leaks. Hahn gets Nightengale to cut the bulls***.

Sox related he was the one who kept reporting that we would only go to 3 years with Cespedes when everyone else kept acting like we were in the lead for him.

Hahn also came out & denied that they were only going 3 years with any of the top guys, so obviously Nightengale wasn't telling the truth.

I highly doubt Hahn would say it was true. Still no evidence they offered more than 3 year base deals.

He claims to have an actual quote. Doesn't mean it's true.

You really think he would make up a quote? What would be his motivation? He doesn't have a horse in the race. I really don't think he cares where Desmond signs.

Plus, the quote sort of shoots down a poker game. That ship has sailed followed by a contract offer would make no sense. Perhaps they talked to him earlier this week and perhaps today, and realized they weren't going to come to terms, where then both stories were correct.

Yep all Heyman said was they were considering a run. Maybe they asked what he was seeking at this stage of the game and it was still too much.

Common sense tells you that if you're given the choice between believing Heyman or Nightengale you believe Heyman. Let's not overthink this.

This. I realize Hayes has been away from the team most of the offseason, but with the way things have kinda unfolded today, I really think the Sox are in pretty hard on Desmond. Hope it gets done tomorrow, another week of this might kill me.
