ChiSoxFanMike
As the Mets have signed Cespedes, their outfield is crowded. They have Cespedes, Granderson, Conforto, De Aza, Lagares, and Nimmo all either on the big league roster or close to it. As there's only room for 3 of them to start consistently, I'd have to imagine that they'd be open to moving at least one of them. That brings us to Lagares. He is elite defensively, is signed to a pretty team friendly deal through 2020, and is only 26 years old. He had a down season last year, but is only a season removed from a 5.5 WAR campaign. How would you guys feel about the Sox going after this guy? Obviously he isn't anything special with the bat, but the Sox could really use his defense in center and he would make it possible to shift Eaton to a corner. I don't know what the Mets would want for him either, but the two sides could most likely make something work. Hopefully, we can make a nice little discussion thread here. Thanks. ChiliIrishHammock24
I would like to take Lagares, but Cespedes only has 1 year with them. If they move Lagares, their options for 2017 are then just Granderson, Conforto, and Nimmo.
caulfield12
0.9 advantage for Trayce over Lagares...
BlackSox13
I doubt the Mets trade an outfielder but if they did I'd take Nimmo. His high OBP potential would be great at #2 in the lineup and has experience playing CF and RF in the minors. Whether it's Lagares or Nimmo, I'm sure the cost would not be cheap. No clue what to offer up for a trade proposal.
Bob Sacamano
I'd call and ask about Granderson first though I don't think they'll move anyone. Conforto orbGranderson could sit against lefties and Lagares can get into the lineup as well as other games he can double switch and come in as a defensive sub in. GreenSox
If Lagares was on the Sox with his .667 OF OPS, people would want him gone yesterday. We traded an defensive fielder (who raked in his cup of coffee) who was universally termed a "fourth OF."
ptatc
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) If Lagares was on the Sox with his .667 OF OPS, people would want him gone yesterday. We traded an defensive fielder (who raked in his cup of coffee) who was universally termed a "fourth OF." He wasn't as good as Lagares defensively and he well over played his minor league numbers which does bode well for his being able to sustain the offensive numbers from the short time in the MLB last year. That is why he was labeled a 4th OF.
Vance Law
I would think they want to hold on to Lagares as their ideal defensive replacement 4th OF. I'm sure they'd give DeAza away. I'm saying we could have DeAza on this team by tomorrow if we want.
Al Lopez's Ghost
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) I'm saying we could have DeAza on this team by tomorrow if we want. If the Sox brought DeAza back, I'd have to think seriously about taking a sabbatical from them until he was gone.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) If Lagares was on the Sox with his .667 OF OPS, people would want him gone yesterday. We traded an defensive fielder (who raked in his cup of coffee) who was universally termed a "fourth OF." He "raked" for about two weeks. He was pretty meh besides that.
