RockRaines
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 07:12 AM) After 478 yards and 4 TDs last year. They scored 31 points, but can't help to blame Alabama's offense for the loss. They had so many 3 and outs, that they just kept giving Clemson chances with the ball and the defense just got worn out by the end. Clemson ran 33 more plays and had 10 minutes greater time of possession, even though they trailed throughout. Clemson ran them ragged by going side to side in the first half and then hitting on tons of constraint plays in the second. They were going to score some points if they got the chance. Bama decided that it wanted to abandon the read option game much of the second half and it bit them in the ass. Thats how you can run through Clemson and they starting passing and running this pro-style stuff they hadnt done all year.

Chisoxfn
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) So on Clemson's first and goal play with 6 seconds left why not instruct all of your defensive players to just hold and tackle the wide receivers and then make them either go for the win or kick the FG on one final play? I was wondering the same thing. Just tackle them or do whatever you need to do to prevent anything, allow the defensive penalty, move them to the 1, but time would be at zero so you either go for the win or kick the field goal. RockRaines
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) Not to mention, Alabama's QB is not that good at throwing the ball yet. He may never be, thats just not his game. If Saban and Sark want to go back to a pro-style, he may not be the QB for them. Kiffin basically implemented Clemson/OSU's offensive concepts over the last 2 years after spending time with Tom Herman. Thats why Hurts was so perfect. Harry Chappas
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) I was wondering the same thing. Just tackle them or do whatever you need to do to prevent anything, allow the defensive penalty, move them to the 1, but time would be at zero so you either go for the win or kick the field goal. If the defenders do that and watson rolls out, chances are he walks into the end zone. In theory that is a good idea but it not what the players are accustomed to doing. That was a risky play call with the time left.
knightni
Can anyone who followed college football more than me this year, make a list of top five 2017 Draft eligible CFB QBs by their NFL readiness/ability? Not in order of the best QB via college results; the most potential NFL skill. Also, please estimate where they will be drafted and by what team. Thanks! It can be multiple people, I just want to see if there's a consensus out there.

knightni
Okay, I'll give it a shot. Maybe someone else will as well. 1. Pat Mahomes - San Francisco - 1st Round 2. DeShone Kizer - Chicago - 1st Round 3. Mitch Trubisky - New York Jets - 1st Round 4. DeShaun Watson - Cleveland - 2nd Round 5. Davis Webb - Houston - 3rd Round Cleveland will be gun shy about drafting a 1st round qb and SF will buy into the Mahomes hype. Watson will slide to the 2nd because of his lack of pro style in college and his size.
Panerista
Knightni is probably right about the Bears, but dang it would suck if Chicago skipped all of the top first round talent to reach for a quarterback.

If they could trade down, get Cleveland's #12, the Cle #1 in 2018, and Cle's 2nd in 2017, maybe they could get a QB and someone else.

That's certainly possible, but that top level talent is just nuts. Garrett would make an awesome Bear if he's still there.
