Sox/Cubs showing interest in Fowler

Interesting that Dan Hayes is now saying if the Sox add an OF that it doesn't mean Avi would be the odd man out. Just weird that he's went from all but ruling out a move to finding a place for Avi to get at bats.

Maybe just DFA Frazier and put Garcia at third?

 

Seriously, though, I assume he could platoon at DH with LaRoche while taking some innings in the outfield.

He can go to minors and try and improve his game down there and then be a DH next season or an injury replacement this season.

I would think that the Fowler camp is just using the Sox to get a better deal from the Cubs, much like what appears to have taken place with both Gordon and Cespedes. If indeed Fowler goes back to the Cubs, you really can't blame any one of those guys - two of them with World Series teams, one right at the cusp. That is just a fact, at least for the present.

Unless they are lining something up with the Indians or Padres, I see no fits for them to add Fowler. That Dickerson trade kinda f***ed them.

 

I don't think the Cubs brass cared for Soler's effort when it was cold out. If Maddon is advocating to bring back Fowler, then it's incredibly likely they will make it happen. To me, Cubs should not trade Soler. He's a wild card on a team that can afford to give him time to show what he can do with so many other stars on the team.
