BlackSox13
Though the season hasn’t even started, the Yankees have already been bitten by the injury bug in notable fashion, as Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that top prospect Greg Bird will miss the 2016 season due to shoulder surgery (links to Twitter). Bird will undergo the procedure tomorrow for what has been diagnosed as a torn labrum, per Sherman. The Yankees have since confirmed Sherman’s report, announcing that Bird suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury that he initially sustained in May of 2015 (although, clearly, he did not damage the shoulder to this extent the first time he suffered the injury). http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/02/greg...ry-yankees.html Sucks to hear a young player like Bird out for the season already. Yanks better hope Tex can stay healthy to play 1B. Wonder if the Sox could interest them in LaRoche. J/K
bmags
That sucks. Would be a shame if this derails his career.
Bob Sacamano
Could see them add Alvarez now.
Vance Law
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Could see them add Alvarez now. They've got A-Rod and Beltran. Bird only came up when Teixeira was injured.

SoxAce
Makes Avi coming back so quickly with the same injury even more impressive, even if he's not that good.

I thought he was going to potentially be on the bench. It was a suggestion in a comment I read on mlbtr.
Vance Law
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) I thought he was going to potentially be on the bench. It was a suggestion in a comment I read on mlbtr. It's possible they were gonna have Bird up as a bench bat and have him pinch hit 1B/DH/OF. But they need/currently have room for another 1B/DH.
