Bears went with Nate Chandler instead. Chandler is mildly interesting. Here is a note I saw on rotoworld...

After training with Panthers OT Nate Chandler the past two summers, Hall of Fame LT Jackie Slater claimed "there's no doubt in my mind he's a top left tackle."

A converted defensive tackle, 25-year-old Chandler made eight 2013 starts, six at guard and two at right tackle. He's now battling Byron Bell to start on Cam Newton's blind side. "He's mentally equipped to solve problems, and that's what you have to do to play offensive tackle in this league," said Slater, a seven-time Pro Bowler who's now the OL coach at Azusa Pacific University. "He's going to be a good offensive lineman in the National Football League for a very long time."

Probably just fluff, but nevertheless Chandler is still only 27 and is a converted defensive lineman, so who knows, there might be some untapped potential there.

That panther oline was pretty bad at pass protection until last year (the broncos were unreal but in general they looked pretty good).

He's just nice insurance. Guessing Jake Long looks cooked.

Bears WR Marquess Wilson re-fractured his left foot in minicamp Tues, John Fox said. He'll have surgery & could miss start of regular season

He will get released I would presume.

I know its a complete long shot but the Von Miller negotiations have gone reeeeeeeeeeallly sour with Denver. Von says there is no way he will play under the tag next year.

Could it be possible that he just might be a Bear next year? Pretty Please?

How does the Bears cap space look next year?

FWIW, barring a major injury he'd get franchise tagged again next year. His salary this year is $15 million, next year would be 120% of that, so only $18 million. The 3rd year would be where it got bad for the Broncos, that year it would jump 144% if I understand the CBA correctly, so he'd be talking $26 million that year.

Bears signed TE and former Wheaton Warrenville South product Tony Moeaki. Kind of cool that I played against a player now on the Bears.

Sucks that he's had so many injury problems since high school. Maybe he'll have a zach miller resurgence.

Why? The Bears fairly consistently spend big in free agency.

Miller wants to break the bank, he wants more than what Cox got from Philly. Dont get me wrong, i would love to see the guy in a bears uniform, but I just dont see Pace throwing out that kind of money

Under the Angelo and Emery regimes, this was true. However, Pace does not seem to spend big on one player in free agency at least his first two years in charge. He likes to spread the money out.

Hub Arkush who probably pukes anytime he gives the Bears a compliment, says they have gone from the worst inside LBs in the league to the best.

Hub is annoying, but I do check myself with him. It was him entering the Emery years pushing the Bears to blow it up, that their only talent was aging and nothing was behind it.

I obviously wanted a winner and thought he was being a p-----. But he was right. He has certain things he harps on, but across the league he seems to have a pretty good gauge on depth and talent level, more than me anyway. NFL is too big with too many players, hard to keep track. I feel like the Bears are much improved, but I don't know compared to what.
