Addison Reed is really good now: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/addison-ree...ew-miller-lite/

2.5 fWAR this year with a ERA under 2. He made a similar mechanical adjustment to Andrew Miller and is now one of the top relievers in the league this year.

and the sox have a injured psuedo 3rd basemen

It is ironic that Reed pitching well in Albers' spot was exactly what the Sox needed...meanwhile, we had to trade three more minor leaguers to cover 3b. Devenski would have done the job as well. That's the cost of all in every year.

I think Reed's success is mostly dependent on a mechanical change he made after he got traded to the Mets. He really wasn't very good until after the trade. No guarantee he is what he is today if he stays with the Sox.

Brian Dozier's splits are absolutely insane this year. He's hit 36 home runs since the start of June with a .676 slugging and .361 ISO. In April and May, he hit 5 homers with a .329 slugging percentage.

Dozier's always had good power, but this kind of power surge is almost unheard of.

He basically flipped a switch in the middle of the season. Those guys didn't do that, their transformation at least happened over an off-season. Dozier corrected something in his approach and became the most prolific power hitter in the AL somehow.
