Lots of rumors flying about a possible Beltran for Hochevar trade.

Hochevar would partially replace whoever the Yanks trade (Miller/Chapman) in a set up role...with KC, Beltran would play RF primarily.

Royals would then have huge weakness in set up with Soria struggling and Hochevar gone. But they desperately need more pop offensively.

Their bullpen is average right now. Trading away Hochevar will make their bullpen a weak point. With their starting pitching the way it is, that's an awful move to make.

At the All Star break, I believe their rotation was 29th in IP. Only Cincinnati was worse and it was real close. A couple of post seasons and that will probably take it's toll on their bullpen moving forward.

So the Twins are probably forcing an Ast GM and a manager on their next GM, that is if they don't just keep the Ast GM as GM.

It’s not yet clear how serious a candidate acting Twins GM Rob Antony is for the full-time job, but he might be back with the organization in 2017 regardless, MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger tweets. Team president Dave St. Peter noted that Antony is under contract for the coming season, and seemingly suggested that the club would like to keep him around even if he doesn’t get the permanent gig to replace Terry Ryan. Minnesota’s upper management has also made clear that skipper Paul Molitor will be retained.

Boy the Royals inexplicably suck on the road this year. Makes even more impossible the fact they are 4-2 in the Cell. Good to see the Royals have a horrific reliever this year in Soria. If they keep him next year, they are going nowhere again.

Twins, however, look like they are on the rise. They probably can't catch the Sox. I'd suspect we finish above the Twins by a couple games. Next year, however, we have to start out favorites for the cellar unless we rebuild/retool. No bats for KC and Chicago both.

Jeffrey Flanagan @FlannyMLB First diagnosis for Luke Hochever confirmed Thoracic Outlet Surgery. Will have 2nd opinion but surgery likely and season prob over. #Royals

This will be an interesting recovery depending on what surgery they need to do. Some are relatively easy others are really difficult

Duffy and Fulmer might be the two best starters in the AL now.

Duffy is quite a success story. Always had good stuff. Made himself a good starter. I despise the Royals but do respect Duffy.

KC was 12 games under .500 in July and pretty much seemed dead in the water.

Have an outside chance at the WC with 27 games remaining in the Central, especially facing MN and the Sox.

Face Miami and Boston on the road next week and then the Yankees at home...not to mention four at home vs. the A's.

Of course, they've been terrible on the road, but have won 9/10 and six in a row with two more against the Twins.

Game last night ended at 2:13 a.m.

Do the Royals have a better chance of winning the division than netting the wild card? I think so. The wild card is tough to make up one game a week.

2.8% chance to win the division. 10.5% chance to net the wild card.

The White Sox pretty much killed the Royals' spirit this week. KC finally blew some games after being hot so long and the Sox rolled over against Detroit, losing all 3 and burying the Royals.

And Wade Davis returned latest night and immediately blew a save to Detroit. Ultimate nut punch.
