fathom
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) Oh great. Who do people want to be the SS? I think Saladino would be my choice but I feel like Robin will go with Rollins Of course it's Rollins.

Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 22m22 minutes ago Goodyear, AZ Robin Ventura says he knows who will be the White Sox starting shortstop in Oakland... He declined to tell us today. Gray is RH. I would bet that Rollins starts at SS
Bob Sacamano
If I had to guess the lineup for Opening Day, it'll be: Eaton RF/LF Rollins SS Abreu 1B Frazier 3B Cabrera LF/RF/DH (not really sure) Lawrie 2B Garcia/Ishikawa/Sands/late ST addition DH/RF(this could possibly be 8 spot if Navarro starts) Avila C Jackson CF Edited March 21, 2016 by soxfan2014
Jose Abreu
If Jimmy Rollins is your #2 hitter on Opening Day in 2016, your team probably sucks.
Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) If Jimmy Rollins is your #2 hitter on Opening Day in 2016, your team probably sucks. Ideally I'd put Melky there, but they batted him in the middle of the order last year and there really isn't another power bat to hit 5th. Unless you bat Navarro there when he plays. Jackson CF vs RHP 1. Eaton OF 2. Ethier DH/OF 3. Abreu 1B 4. Frazier 3B 5. Cabrera OF 6. Lawrie 2B 7. Avila C 8. Rollins SS 9. Jackson CF Yes, I know I added Andre Ethier to the team. Yes, I know he just got injured.
LittleHurt05
It's funny how they signed him to a minor league deal, yet he was basically given the starting job from day one without a real competition.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 06:37 PM) It's funny how they signed him to a minor league deal, yet he was basically given the starting job from day one without a real competition. They signed him to minor league deal for a couple of reasons, #1, they could, and #2, the 40 man roster was full at the time of his signing. It should have been obvious to all at the time of his signing that he was the leader for the job by default.

I must have missed that memo, but I also thought he was done and washed up, which at second glance was a bit off.
Whisox05
http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/jayson-...n-revere-032116 A little story on Rollins and still trying to work on adjustments

cabiness42
Any chance that Saladino start vs LHP and Rollins vs RHP, at least for the first few weeks to see how they're doing?
Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 07:10 AM) Any chance that Saladino start vs LHP and Rollins vs RHP, at least for the first few weeks to see how they're doing? I'm certain that's the plan. Saladino should also get a start or two a week at 3B & 2B. That's plenty of playing time for a guy who still needs to prove himself with the bat. If he does, then I could see him and Rollins flip-flopping roles pretty quickly.

Rollins had a wRC+ of 114 vs LHP last season. Most of his power (11 homers) came from the left side though.

Rollins has fairly even splits, I was looking at it more from Saladino's side. Saladino is much better vs LHP than vs RHP.

Saladino is much better vs LHP than vs RHP. Oh yeah I know. It's an interesting debate. It's easy to look at and just assume that Saladino should start vs the LHP but Rollins was pretty good vs LHP last year.

Saladino will get plenty of AB's if he can hit even a minimal amount this year. Robin has shown he will use his bench players when they don't absolutely suck. It's pretty simple and not really something to worry about.

Dick Allen
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Has Rollins played any 2B or 3B this spring? Probably the most telling action of them all. If Rollins was going to be utility, he would have played there at least some, unless they are releasing him.
southsider2k5
http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/168...enjoying-spring They Said It "I like the combination of the [four] people I have at those positions: Lawrie, Sanchez, [Jimmy] Rollins, [Tyler] Saladino." Ventura, after admitting he has picked a starting shortstop but declining to name him.

It's too many infielders IMO.
