GGajewski18
We could all forget about this if we can get Josh Reddick from the A's. He would be a great get.
NorthSideSox72
People saying this is some awful offseason aren't dealing in reality. They made quite a few substantial improvements. That said, what is so frustrating to me is that it WAS a pretty good offseason, and they left themselves just one major hole short that would have made it a really good offseason. That makes no sense. Why go most of the way? When Fowler was obviously so affordable? That does piss me off.
SoCalSox
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Seeing Coghlan go for so cheap makes me think they're targeting someone specifically. Ethier remains the likely target, IMO Or could it be the fact that they are truly done? I really don't know at this point but what I do know is they have officially pissed me off. Dick Allen
On the other side of the coin, if Theo is going to give Coughlan away, why would he give him to the White Sox instead of a team like Oakland? BTW, I don't think Coughlan is very good. It doesn't bother me they didn't trade for him.

I fully expect some s*** move to say they did something but more speaking about a real positive WAR starter.

iWiN4PreP
If we get an upgrade in the outfield before the start of the season, this is still a really good off season. If we don't get an OF, then this off season is confusing and wasting another year of the core. Indeed. I, as well as others in this thread, don't mind not signing Fowler in particular. Just, please, do something...

Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Technically, they didn't regain one of the picks they lost by signing other free agents. Eminor3rd
The fact that Fowler just signed for $8m and an option actually doesn't upset me as much as the 3/$33m deal that fell through did -- this choice was clearly about an opt-out. I get that Hahn didn't want to put Fowler back on the market after one season if it meant losing a prospect.
