KipWellsFan
Does this organization need to do something really radical to turn things around on the South Side? I mean the curse of the Bambino has nothing on the curse of the 1919 Black Sox. Not being too radical but this would have to start with the fireing of Jerry Manuel and then just completely f***ing up this team. Like Goodbye Maggs, Jose, Thomas, Colon, Gordon, Everett, Alomar Jr. Just keep a small core of the solid ball players -Jon Garland (he's awesome, he wants to win, the ladies love him) -Joe Crede (what can I say, he is THE ONE) -Tony Graffanino (stay on as utility man extrodinaire) -Mark Buehrle (that crazy bastard) -Damaso Marte (Arguably the best left hander in the biz) -Esteban Loaiza (ahh what the hell why not) -Robbie Alomar (everyone seems to love him) -Paul Konerko (fan favorite and everyone loves the Paulie chant) -Carlos Lee (almost forgot about El Caballo) Thats just to name a few examples. Of course nothing like this would ever happen so who gives a crap. Edited September 17, 2003 by KipWellsFan
greg775
I think we are jinxed. I'd say build with defense and pitching, but we've seen how the times we've made the playoffs our bats have died. I guess we keep cheering but I do think you are right. We are jinxed. I mean if we build with defense and pitching and speed and can't score, we're screwed too. I think a positive step would be to hire a stud manager. I can only think of one who would make a difference, Piniella, and he aint coming.

KipWellsFan
You could be on to something there HSC. The new owner of the Atlanta Falcons has been great: Arthur Blank. Since buying the team the Falcons got Vick, made the playoffs, beat the packers at Lambeau a couple of times sold out all 16 games before the season started. There you go again, stating that the team has a ton of talent. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that the players are always the last to be blamed by you for their failures. Maybe you're too close to them, I don't know, but it always seems to be the owner, the manager, the general manager. Hell, tonight you laid all the blame on JM, again. The team is loaded with talent...KW brought that talent here. JR is paying that talent and the GM that brought them here. JM certainly has his faults, but he didn't walk 5 tonight. He didn't get rocked by the Twins for the second start in a row. He didn't bow his head while getting out of the box on an easy 5-4-3 DP like Konerko did. Players lose ballgames, IMO. CubKilla
jm also f***ed up the new york game tossing an inexperineced cotts to the lions (so to speak).. of course that wasnt a must win game because we won two already according to him There we were, in a pennant race, at the END OF AUGUST, and this jagoff manager we have is content winning a SERIES at a time when we should have been trying to win EVERY GAME. Maybe dickhead thought it was April..... not August.

DonkeyKongerko
We need some variety in our lineup. You diversify with stocks and with ballclubs. It's a well known fact we are a slow lumbering power-hitting team except we don't walk as much as a great power-hitting team. We also don't hit for a high enough average. Execution has cost this team an unbelievable number of games and that starts with management. This team just needs a whole new offensive philosophy. Al Lopez Ghost (old)
I would bet that the players were just as confounded by that Cotts/Buehrle thing as we were. It had to leave them all scratching their heads too. This sort of thing, destroying momentum, it's not lost on the players.

elrockinMT
I can't believe that Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't really want to win. Sure he does just like all of us and the players, etc. But Jerry is a businessman and businessmen have taken over this game. He only sees the botom line and that's profit. He, and many others, would rather see the Sox make a dollar than be a dollar in the hole. That's their focus right or wrong, good or bad. The problem is that most teams can't compete with the likes of Steinbrenner and the money he THROWS at people. Other players see what he spends and then they all think they should get that kind of money. It's a vicious cycle and hopefully the pendulum will swing back soon. I think that for the most part there is a lot of parity out there right now.
