BigHurt3515
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 05:00 PM) Cut LaRoche and trade for Reddick, and man, I'd be so pumped for baseball to start. It won't happen but it's fun to dream lol. That is the only way you would be pumped for baseball to start? Don't be so greedy. C, 2B, 3B, OF all improved
SoxAce
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Good move, but they still need one more big bat. We'll see how SS shakes out, but I'm good with Saladino's glove if he's the guy. But yea.. DH with LaRoche and Avi leaves alot to be desired. If the sox are in it, I'm sure Hahn will address that come the trade deadline.

flavum
QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) To me, this move takes LaRoche out of the equation much more than Avi Agreed. A lot of mixing and matching coming. Good depth move.

OmarComing25
Solves the CF problem, and the DH vs. LHP problem, and the cost is extremely reasonable. Great move.

ChiSoxFanMike
Does this move take Shuck out of the 4th outfielder position? If Avi is on the team as well, I just can't see the Sox carrying 5 outfielders at the same time.

Shuck can serve as a late inning defensive replacement for Cabrera/Garcia. Edited March 6, 2016 by soxfan2014

ozzfest
So whats the lineup going to be? Eaton Jackson Abreu Frazier Melky Laroche Lawrie Navarro Rollins Or does Jackson bat 7? Edited March 6, 2016 by ozzfest
scotty22hotty
Amazing signing, can't really say more than that. Possibly the best signing this offseason when you factor in overall value and positional upgrade. I was huge for signing Cespedes but Jackson for $5M erases all bitterness. iWiN4PreP
Absolutely wonderful. As others have stated -- this is the move that completes the deal. Trading for Frazier, and acquiring Lawrie were the big moves, but they were insufficient with such large holes in DEF and Avi having a starting gig guranteed. This move puts the glue together and makes it a complete offseason. While a more effective OF would have been lovely, perhaps that was wishful thinking. Getting Rollins + Jackson instead of Desmond + Fowler is still acceptable and puts us in a position to compete with a solid squad. More work could be done, but now i'm in. daggins
OD lineup (fantasy version) assuming Sonny Gray pitching: 1. Eaton RF 2. Cabrera LF 3. Abreu 1B 4. Frazier 3B 5. LaRoche DH 6. Lawrie 2B 7. Jackson CF 8. Navarro C 9. Rollins SS Thats pretty, pretty, pretty... pretty good.

Bob Sacamano
Theoretically they could potentially send Garcia to AAA since he is working on a new stance/mechanics or I guess trade him.

ChiSox59
Do wonder if this creates LaRoche / Avi platoon, or if Avi still gets plenty of starts in the OF and Melky to DH more often.
