InTheDriversSeat
This week Channel 69 WMYS-LD South Bend (my network TV) announced that all 55 White Sox games produced by WGN Sports will air in the 2016 season. But the same TV station is also airing 70 Cubs games (45 WGN + 25 ABC7). Eight of the ABC7 Cubs telecasts conflict with WGN White Sox games. No explanation was provided where / if those 8 games are going to air. http://www.abc57.com/story/31405729/chicag...x-games-on-wmys 2 of the Cubs telecasts are Crosstown games with Cubs announcers (1 WGN + 1 ABC7), therefore 57 total White Sox games may air in South Bend. http://www.abc57.com/story/31200212/chicag...-to-air-on-wmys Channel 69 is a change from last year in South Bend, when all 55 Sox games aired on a different station Channel 28-2 WSJV Elkhart (H&I Heroes & Icons). However, 69 'my Michiana' has carried the Sox prior to 2015 when just the WCIU games were distributed to local TV stations outside of Chicago (25 White Sox + 8 Cubs). Last year, for some reason Ken Harrelson couldn't receive the Sox telecasts on Channel 28-2 at his Granger, Indiana home when he was recovering from surgery. Hopefully that won't be a problem this season because Hawk will be watching 78 (out of 81) games from USCF on television at his home. . DirecTV and Dish Network typically don't carry subchannels like 28-2. Comcast/Time Warner often do. So if Hawk has a dish, he probably couldn't get 28-2, but as far as I know, 69 is carried on all systems.
InTheDriversSeat
The White Sox broadcast schedule at South Bend was revised yesterday to clarify the eight WGN Sox / ABC7 Cubs conflicts, however the news is not that good. 47 games - airing on Channel 69 WMYS-LD (my network TV) 4 games - airing on sister station Channel 25 WCWW-LD (The CW) 4 games - no television 2 games - Crosstown games with Cubs announcers airing on Channel 69 WMYS-LD (my network TV) http://www.abc57.com/story/31405729/chicag...x-games-on-wmys The 4 games airing on Channel 25 are: May 25 - Cleveland at Chicago May 28 - Chicago at Kansas City June 26 - Toronto at Chicago July 24 - Detroit at Chicago The 4 games which will not be televised in South Bend are: July 17 - Chicago at Los Angeles/Anaheim August 26 - Seattle at Chicago September 4 - Chicago at Minnesota September 18 - Chicago at Kansas City I don't know why these 4 games can not air because the company that owns the TV stations, Weigel Broadcasting owns 3 separate signals (8 sub-channels total) at South Bend where the games could possibly air. . knightni
25 and 69 are nearly impossible to pick up over the air even near South Bend.
InTheDriversSeat
QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:16 AM) 25 and 69 are nearly impossible to pick up over the air even near South Bend. '-LD' stands for 'Low-power Digital', but according to FCC reception maps, the stations' signals appear to be almost as good as the full power TV stations. Channel 69 WMYS-LD http://www.bing.com/maps/?mapurl=https://t...state=IN%26.kml Channel 25 WCWW-LD http://www.bing.com/maps/?mapurl=https://t...state=IN%26.kml . InTheDriversSeat
The South Bend TV station has changed it's mind again. No Sox games will be airing on Channel 25 WCWW-LD. Instead the 51 Sox telecasts will all air on Channel 69 WMYS-LD. http://www.abc57.com/story/31405729/chicag...x-games-on-wmys WGN Sox telecasts conflict 8 times with ABC7 Cubs telecasts. During 4 of those conflicts, the Cubs will air on Channel 25. During the other 4 conflicts, the Cubs will air on Channel 69, and 4 Sox games will not be airing in South Bend (as previously mentioned). http://www.abc57.com/story/31200212/chicag...-to-air-on-wmys 2 of the 70 Cubs telecasts are Crosstown games against the Sox. The dates for the 2 Crosstown games with Cubs announcers are: July 25 - Cubs at White Sox (produced by ABC7) July 27 - White Sox at Cubs (produced by WGN Sports) Therefore, the total amount of Sox games airing at South Bend is 53 games, and 4 Sox games will not be aired. . InTheDriversSeat
The Hawk made a comment during the Twins home opener on Monday. It was early in the game when Avisail went up to bat. Hawk said that he watched Avi's homerun on Saturday from his home (at Granger, Indiana) using his iPad. He said he used his iPad because "Nobody carries WGN in South Bend, Unbelievable." Apparently Ken is still not aware that WGN games are aired on free, over-the-air HD television in South Bend. One would think that someone from WGN Sports or the Sox front office could explain what's going on. I wonder how Hawk was able to watch online streaming since northern Indiana is included in the White Sox 4-state 'streaming blackout zone'. Perhaps MLB exempts members of the media or team front office employees from blackouts. .

I used to have one, it was amazing (especially because it was free).

South Bend has its own CW station so if they carried WGN-9, they would have to black out CW prime time programming.
