Some positive things coming from the Sox so far. Here are their Spring Stats according to MLB.com as of the games on March 10th.

OFFENSE:

AVG: .291 (8th MLB/4th AL)

HR: 16 (2nd MLB/ 2nd AL)

Doubles: 23 (T5th MLB/3rd AL)

Runs: 53 (11th MLB/ 5th AL)

SLG: .542 (1st MLB)

OPS: .878 (4th MLB/3rd AL)

Obviously they have done well hitting, but their pitching is currently 26th (according to ERA) and their defense is actually pretty good with a .983 fielding pct, which is good for 9th MLB/ 5th AL. I think the pitching stats aren't a big area of concern because a lot of the runs scored against, at least from what I have seen, have come against pitchers that won't be on the major league roster come April, and our starters have been fairing decently. I am psyched about this offense (especially Avi), as even Rollins is showing some pop. Thoughts guys?

Yeah it's crazy how the ball is jumping off their bats. We shall see if the ball has that same carry in the cold April of Chicago, however if the weather stays like it has been, they won't have to deal with the cold.

Living in Florida, I have the chance to see different spring training teams. One important thing to note is that the veteran players are pampered so their stats can be mis-leading. Often the veteran players play a lot more home games than road games. The reason is that a spring training road game can be a 2-2.5 hour bus trip each way. You often see the veterans skip the road games with longer bus reides and work out at their home park instead. So when spring training is over, a veteran player may have 65-75% of his abs. in one park. If it is a hitters park they may be inflated or the opposite if it a pitcher's park.
