It depends on the drill. They made it seem like he was on the mound and balls were flying all around him, but maybe it was a base running drill and just seeing him pissed KW off.

It is obvious that safety and liability weren't the issue or they would have pulled him off the field totally, not just asked that he "dial it back" because even doing that, the issue remains.

There are plenty of issues with almost any drill that this wouldn't have been questioned by anyone, and LaRoche would have looked like a jerk if he truly did ignore it, and then even more so had he opposed it.

Whatever. Too late now. What a f***ing mess. And Eaton and Sale won't just shut. the. f***. up.

Been bringing my kid to work since she was 14. Worked out well. #FamilyFirst @e3laroche

Yeah, it worked out well because you're the CEO and make the rules, Willie. Do all of your employees bring their kids to work every day as well?

I agree they could have used safety as an excuse. But that wouldn't fly with "dialing it back" unless it was dialing it back to zero. That is why I think the story KW supposedly used, now story number 5 is total BS as well.

Story to the press, here all the time just asked him to dial it back a little bit

Story to the players, coaches complained about him being here too much

Story to the coaches players complained

New story actually ownership thought it was too much

Bucket story, KW concerned about safety LARoche couldn't care less

It is 'merica. People, for the most part, are free to say what they chose.

exactly and in most cases i agree.... see that has been my defense on some of my rants with certain people on this site.

there is and i am more than positive on it, on all working agreement, that said person does have the freedom until it crosses over to reflecting a negative image on the company, for the company or directly refer to that company.

as i said the sox org should have done a complete silence on this and all media questions whether it is innocent or not. it takes 2 to tango

Well, at least then he's not on the field in drills, which seems to be what set Kenny off in the first place.

So yes this whole thing is a mess but let's not forget the upside.

We got an expensive overpriced albatross of a bad hitter off of our roster and can move forward.

Eventually the dust will settle and we are a better team without LaRoche on it.

If I thought Williams was smart enough, I'd give him credit for pulling off such a well executed evil plan.

Sure thing Willie. After all, bringing your daughter to work at a family run business is the same as bringing your daughter to work where theres a clubhouse full of men. Yeah, uh huh. What an idiot.

a move that would make machiavelli proud.

now lets see if the sox FO will do something with that savings or just keep it for the owners bank acct on the profit side ....

I'm assuming Kenny didn't mention that others were upset. LaRoche didn't take it seriously because KW isn't a player or coach. I'm definitely not defending LaRoche, just wanted to point that out.

I still can't believe this argument being made by the players and some on here. Do people really think if Theo had to tell Arrieta something that Arrieta would flat out blow off his request?

If it was breaking a previous agreement, yes. Besides, it doesn't appear KW has much respect from the clubhouse. Telander may be on to something. But the battles against KW didn't just begin.

He appears he is turning into a Jerry Crumbs Krause type. The Bulls players and coaches hated Crumbs.

I'm not a big fan of KW but it does appear as though he took one for the team here. The complaining players and coaches would probably feel like assholes if they approached a father to complain about the father's son, I would too. Also, it seems like the complainers didn't want to cause an uproar in the clubhouse and upset the chemistry between the players so they anonymously went to KW about Drake. At this point, what is KW supposed to do? Take the side of one player and his son or take the side of multiple players/coaches? Tough spot for KW and I wouldn't want to have to make that decision.

One sticking point for me is the percieved "lying" KW did to the players. According to LaRoche's own words, he would handle the situation if any players, coaches or managers had a problem with all the time Drake spent with the team. Well, last I knew, KW is a manager. He approached LaRoche about the subject to which LaRoche ignored it for an additional 3-4 days. LaRoche doesn't sound as though he tried to help the situation one bit when he ignored the request of the manager. Apparently it was LaRoche's way or the highway, he chose the highway.

In the end I feel everyone involved could have handled this better.

1) KW should have kept his cool the second time he went to LaRoche

2) LaRoche should have at least tried to scale things back after the first talk with KW. He should have adhered to his end of the agreement ( according to his own statement) instead of the my way or the highway nonsense. Typical fight or flight response, bye bye birdy. Go ahead and and go home, Eric Cartman.

3) Sale should have kept his big mouth shut about a clubhouse issue instead of whining to the media in an effort to pled someone's case for them.

4) Eaton, same as Sale. Eaton should reconsider the amount of time he spends on Twitter. Interesting how all of his tweets from Thursday were deleted.

5) Maybe the complaining players/coaches should have tried talking to LaRoche first, although I can see how that would be difficult to do. Tough spot but if the kid being around that often bothers them that much then maybe, in hindsight, it would have been the best first step instead of going to KW.

Exactly. Most people on this thread seem to want to pick a side and make an argument out of it. That seems a little like picking your favorite turd and trying to sell its benefits.

Oh yeah, no doubt there are players that hated KW even before this and had no respect for him. I'm sure Sale thinks KW was tipping off his pitches to the Tigers.....kidding

You keep saying this, but even LaRoche said he would address any complaints. For him to say he wouldn't address it if it came from KW or JR is absolutely ridiculous. Seems like selective reasoning in his retirement letter.

I just don't know how people can buy whatever KW is selling. He had is first story he gave the press. Sale, whether you think he is crazy or not, said KW gave them 3 stories, and the Nightengale story was yet another different version. So there is 5 nor even counting whether buckets story is anything, but that would make it bucket #6 officially Bozo's Circus.

"We lost a leader in Drake LaRoche " -Adam Eaton on the Score

What a joke. I don't even want to root for these guys anymore. Drake is at home with his Dad. Eaton makes it sound like he died from cancer

Eaton and Sale we're probably the biggest names to complain to someone about Drake, you can tell by how guilty they feel saying this crap.

Not at all. It would be a clubhouse issue. Those guys aren't in the clubhouse. Maddon said with the Cubs the players would have to figure it out. He would be out of it.

Both KW and LaRoche are spinning their version of events. Both need to be gone, IMO.

It looks like that, but if you take the Sox fandom out of it, the White Sox came up better from this. So screw it, the Circus worked.

I don't buy what KW is selling any more than I buy what AL is selling. I think they are both full of crap and telling half truths to make themselves look better. I would love for KW to be fired for many reasons that don't include kicking Drake out of the clubhouse (but if that's the reason, I'll take it). But I also think that if AL had any sort of real, enforceable agreement... he'd be enforcing it.

Assuming KW is Bozo. Who plays the role of the Hulk Hogan look alike, Cooky?
